The matter came up for hearing before a bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari.

At the outset, the bench asked petitioner Mamta Sharma whether she has served the copy of the plea to the counsel representing the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

When the petitioner said she will serve the copy of the petition to the parties, the bench observed, You do it. We will have it on Monday (May 31) .

We permit the counsel for the petitioner to serve advance copy of the petition to respondents namely the central agency, counsel for the CBSE and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, the bench said, adding, List on Monday (May 31) .

The petition has arrayed the Centre, the CBSE and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination as respondents in the matter.

During the hearing conducted through video-conferencing, Justice Maheshwari observed that the CBSE is likely to take a call on this issue on June 1.

The counsel representing the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination told the bench that since the apex court is hearing the matter, the high courts should not deal with it.

Nothing will happen till Monday, the bench said.

When the petitioner told the bench that the top court can take suo motu cognisance on the issue, the bench said, Be optimistic. May be by Monday some resolution will be there. Let us have it on Monday .

The petition has sought directions to the Centre, the CBSE and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination to cancel the Class 12 examinations and devise an objective methodology to declare the result within a specific timeframe.

Earlier on Sunday, a high-level meeting was held to decide the fate of 12th exam and during the meeting the CBSE had suggested two different options of conducting the exams which included converting existing schools to exam centres.

According to reports, the Union Education Ministry is open to the idea of allowing the students to appear for 12th exam  from their own school. A final decision in this regard is expected to be taken on June 1 when the Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank would announce about the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021.

His statement comes nearly a week after the CBSE confirmed that the 10th 12th Board Exam 2021 would be conducted offline.

Bhardwaj also exuded confidence that the board will be able to manage the exams in 2021 in offline mode without hassles. “CBSE successfully completed the compartment exams amid the pandemic and based on the learning from that we will manage board exams in 2021 in offline mode”, he told Times of India.

CBSE’s Controller or Examinations further said that there is a possibility that students will get more gap days between their exams than last year due to the prevailing COVID situation and academic loss.

“While preparing the datasheet in 2019, students got more than enough gap between the two exams. Even if some exams were scheduled back to back, it was made sure that subsequent exam was easy”, he added.

Talking about the practical examinations, Bhardwaj hoped that state governments will soon reopen schools and students will get time to prepare for the exams. “Usually, schools get around 1.5 months. This year, they may get more than two months to conduct practical exams and complete all formalities while keeping COVID-19 guidelines in mind”,

This year 14 lakh 73 thousand  appeared for the medical entrance exam on September 13 despite the covid 19 . The merit list is yet to be out and will be displayed soon. Every college will release its own cut-off based on which the admission will be granted.

Since last year, top medical colleges AIIMS and JIPMER are also accepting students based on the NEET score. Earlier, they used to have their own entrance test. Every medical college has 15 per cent seats reserved under the All India quota (AIQ) which are filled centrally while the rest are filled by the respective state.

The number of students who appeared this year and subsequently qualified is lesser than that of last year. In 2019, a total of 14,10,755 students appeared for NEET while this year, the number has declined to 13,66,945 despite a rise in the number of registrations. Further, the number of students qualifying has been dropped from 7.97 lakh last year to 77.15 lakh this year.

A total of 7,71,500 candidates have qualified the exam for which over 13.66 lakh candidates had appeared. The highest number of qualifying candidates is from Tripura (88,889) followed by Maharashtra (79,974).

Most of the candidates – 79% – appeared for the exam in English followed 12.8% or 2,04,399 who opted for the exam in Hindi. A total of 1,29,763 candidates registered to appear for the exam in regional languages ranging from Assamese to Bengali to Marathi and others.

The UPSC refused to postpone Its  exams scheduled on October 4 over the coronavirus crisis while during hearing in a supreme court .

The court today asked the UPSC  to file its affidavit by tomorrow and will hear the case again on October 23.

The exam, which was earlier scheduled on May 31, was rescheduled to October 4 due to the pandemic.

20 civil services aspirants had approached the Supreme Court, seeking for the crucial exam to be deferred by two to three months due to the flood situation in several parts of the country as well as COVID-19.

The aspirants said that the civil services exam, being a recruitment examination, is completely different from an academic examination and in the event of its postponement, there would not be any question of delay or loss of any academic session.

One of the petitioners, the father of a candidate, told the court that his son is an officer with the government and that due to heavy work load because of Covid, he was unable to take leave and prepare for the exam, whereas the others managed to stay home and prepare well.

Several other important exams, including the NEET medical entrance exam and the JEE for admission to the IITs, which too were postponed due to COVID-19, have already been held.

सीबीएसई बोर्ड 12वीं की परीक्षा में लखनऊ की दिव्यांशी जैन ने इतिहास रच दिया है. उन्हें परीक्षा में कुल 600 नंबरों में से 600 नंबर मिले हैं. वो नवयुग रेडियंस लखनऊ की 12वीं की छात्रा हैं और लखनऊ के गणेश गंज इलाके में रहती हैं.

दिव्यांशी जैन हिस्ट्री, ज्योग्राफी, इकोनॉमिक्स, इंश्योरेंस, संस्कृत और इंग्लिश विषयों से 12वीं की पढ़ाई कर रही थीं. इस साल की परीक्षा में उनके सभी विषयों में 100 फीसदी मार्क्स आए हैं. दिव्यांशी जैन एक मध्यमवर्गीय परिवार से हैं. उनके पिता राजेश प्रकाश जैन ने कहा कि हमें बेटी पर गर्व है. उसने अपनी मेहनत से हमारा सपना पूरा कर दिया है.

बता दें कि दिव्यांशी के पिता राजेश जैन स्टेशनरी का व्यवसाय करते हैं. वहीं मां सीमा जैन ग्रहणी हैं. उनकी बड़ी बहन श्रेयांशी जैन स्नातक में पढ़ती हैं.

. उनका कोई भी सोशल अकाउंट नहीं है. उनका कहना है कि तैयारी के दौरानदिव्यांशी जैन अपनी सफलता का क्रेडिट अपने माता-पिता को देती हैं. सीबीएसई परीक्षा में टॉप करने वाली दिव्यांशी जैन सोशल मीडिया से काफी दूर रहीं जो भी डाउट आए. उनको क्लियर करने के लिए उनके परिवार और उनके शिक्षकों का पूरा साथ रहा है. दिव्यांशी जैन की माने तो उन्होंने अभी डिसाइड नहीं किया कि क्या बनना है. उन्होंने कहा कि अब आगे स्थ‍ितियों को देखकर डिसाइड करेंगे.

देश में इस साल सीबीएसई परीक्षा में करीब 88 फीसदी विद्यार्थी ही उत्तीर्ण हुये है जिनमें से लडकियों की संख्या ज्यादा है . सीबीएसई ने इस साल मेरिट लिस्ट नहीं जारी की है लेकिन दिव्यांशी टापर है इसलिए उनका नाम सबसे आगे आया है.
