Pune, 29th June 2026: POWERCON Group, a global leader in Renewable Energy (RE) Asset Creation & Management, has been conferred the ‘SKOCH Silver Award for Sustainability – 2026’, reaffirming its commitment to advancing India’s clean energy transition through innovation, operational excellence, asset creation and performance optimisation through sustainable business practices. The award was received by Dr Sanjiv Kawishwar – Chief Sustainability Officer and Mr Prateek Kakulte – Business Innovation Officer at POWERCON, during the 108th SKOCH Summit held at New Delhi.

Established in 1997, the SKOCH Award framework recognizes organizations that create meaningful and measurable impact rather than merely rewarding scale or visibility, making it one of the most respected independent recognitions in the country. The SKOCH Awards are notable for their independent research led evaluation, evidence-based assessment, peer review by similar organisations, and focus on identifying scalable models of excellence.

The 2026 SKOCH Awards honoured leading government institutions, public sector enterprises, banks and private organisations. This year’s awardees included Union Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Central Bank of India, Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), Shipping Corporation of India, and the Governments of Punjab, Maharashtra (UMED Mission), Uttarakhand and Sikkim.

Over the years, the SKOCH platform has also featured leading private sector organisations such as Reliance Industries Limited, Mahindra Group, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, HCL Technologies, JSW Group, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Adani Group. In the renewable energy sector, POWERCON joins a select group of 2026 SKOCH awardees that includes REC Limited, NLC India Limited and GAIL (India) Limited.

“This recognition is a strong validation of our belief that sustainability and operational excellence are inseparable in maximising the value of renewable energy assets. It reaffirms our mission of delivering ‘more MWh of clean Energy per MW of installed Power’ through responsible and sustainable business practices. In doing so, we create lasting value for our customers, communities, and the environment, while contributing to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat@2047,” said Mr. Praveen Kakulte, CEO & Founder, POWERCON.

As India accelerates toward 1,800 GW of Clean Energy by 2047 and net-zero by 2070, POWERCON continues to play a critical role across the renewable energy value chain from project development and construction to lifetime O&M operations, asset performance optimization, diagnostics, analytics, and advanced asset management services.

Bengaluru, January 24, 2025 – World will need an estimated investment of US $1.7 trillion in its mining sector for energy transition, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc and Non-Executive Director Vedanta Limited has said. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Priya also stressed on India’s unique potential to drive global energy transition. She added that while countries like US, China, and the Middle East have extensively harnessed their natural resources to fuel their economies, India has explored less than 15% of its reserves. This presents a unique opportunity for India to unlock its resource wealth and contribute significantly to the global shift toward clean energy.

Priya acknowledged the Indian government’s proactive measures in opening up the mining sector and said, “The Indian government is already taking steps in this area by launching the critical minerals mission and auctioning of critical mineral blocks. This has already seen Vedanta emerge as the preferred bidder for six blocks, paving the way for significant progress in this sector”. She also emphasized Vedanta’s commitment to sustainable mining by leveraging advanced technologies to ensure that mining operations have minimal or zero impact on the environment.

“Our commitment to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050 is not just a goal—it’s a responsibility we hold toward future generations. I’m proud that three of our largest companies—Hindustan Zinc, Zinc International, and Cairn Oil & Gas—will reach this milestone within the next five years. By embracing renewable energy and deploying battery-operated vehicles, including fully battery-powered logistics by 2030, we’re proving that sustainability is not just essential for the planet but also the smartest path for long-term business growth. At Vedanta, we are committed to turning ambition into action”, she said.

Detailing Vedanta’s plans and innovations in developing zinc-based batteries as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to lithium, Ms. Priya Aggarwal Hebbar said, “We are already conducting some pilots in this area. Hindustan Zinc, as the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, is collaborating with IITs and global institutions to advance this technology, which could disrupt the energy storage market by offering environmentally friendly solutions”.

She concluded by outlining Vedanta’s ambitious plans to double production across multiple verticals, including increasing zinc and silver output to 2 million tons annually, aluminium production to 4 million tons, and doubling oil and gas output through substantial capital investments. End

To significantly catapult the energy transition and effectively contribute in the country’s sustainable growth, Gautam Solar is planning to expand its annual solar module manufacturing capacity from the current capacity of 1 GW to 2 GW. The leading player in the solar module manufacturing segment is projecting to achieve the massive expansion by the end of calendar year 2024. To enable the projected growth in a steady and timely manner, Gautam Solar will be investing around Rs 150 crores on its manufacturing setup during the year.

For Gautam Solar, North India’s largest solar module manufacturer, this will be a major leap bolstering its prowess as the major contributor in the country’s solar transition. The expanded manufacturing capacity of Gautam Solar will be used to manufacture the revolutionary N-type TOPCon and Mono PERC Solar Modules. These high-efficiency solar modules are certified as per ALMM and BIS standards for domestic market as well as UL & IEC Standards for foreign markets like the United States and Europe.

“We are committed to working with the various industry stakeholders to build a strong indigenous solar manufacturing sector in line with the government’s vision and help India achieve its Net Zero Goal. As we aim to double our capacity by 2024, it will be another step towards achieving our broader pursuit. The fervently dedicated team of experts at Gautam Solar has been working extensively to leverage cutting-edge technologies to create innovative products and strategize solutions to escalate solar module manufacturing domestically. I am optimistic that our growth trajectory will be further catapulted in the years to come,” noted Gautam Mohanka, CEO of Gautam Solar.

Gautam Solar’s products are already being used in a variety of applications, including rooftop solar projects, utility-scale solar projects and C&I Solar plants, both by government agencies and private entities. This major expansion will help the company to further reduce India’s reliance on imported Solar Modules and is a testament to the company’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ campaign.
