Programme organized at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant to mark World Meditation Day observed

A programme was organized at the Gopabandhu Auditorium in the Learning & Development (L&D) Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 20^th December, 2025 to mark the observance of World Meditation Day. Mr. B K Giri, ED (MD-CMLO), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines, OGOM-CMLO) and the Guest Speaker Mr. B D Shivhare, Senior Faculty, Art of Living were present on the dais.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Giri emphasized upon the role of meditation to achieve inner wellness which is essential for maintaining mental balance, emotional stability, and overall well-being, especially in today’s fast-paced professional environment.

Mr. Singh in his address highlighted that a calm and focused mind significantly contributes to improved productivity, better decision-making, and harmonious interpersonal relationships at the workplace.

Mr. Shivhare elaborated on the practical aspects of meditation and mindfulness, explaining how regular practice helps in stress management, enhances concentration, and promotes holistic health. He also guided the participants through simple meditation techniques and breathing exercises. A team of volunteers from art of living demonstrated simple practices of meditation and helped the participants understand the techniques.

At the outset, Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (HR-L&D) welcomed the gathering. Mr. L Marandi, Senior Manager (HR-L&D) coordinated the programme.
