April 14, 2026, India: Cape Breton University (CBU), one of Canada’s leading public universities, today announced a high-level delegation visit to India aimed at strengthening strategic academic partnerships, prompting policy engagement, and expanding global education pathways for Indian students.

Led by President & Vice Chancellor David C. Dingwall, the visit will span six cities including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad, bringing together key stakeholders to engage in a series of high-impact meetings.

The delegation aims to seed institutional collaborations and MOUs to foster bilateral growth opportunities through structured mobility frameworks and stronger institutional linkages across academia, industry, and policy.

Speaking about the visit, David C. Dingwall, President & Vice Chancellor, Cape Breton University, says, “India is fast emerging as a global powerhouse of talent and innovation, making it a strategic partner in shaping the next phase of higher education. This visit reflects our intent to build high-impact, future-focused collaborations that go beyond traditional academic exchange. Through these engagements, we look forward to advancing student mobility, research, and knowledge exchange, while strengthening the India–Canada education corridor.”

The visit will include engagements with key government representatives, including senior state leadership, as well as collaborations with institutions such as BML Munjal University, Amity University, Parul University, Navrachana University, and LJ University, underscoring CBU’s commitment to deepening its presence in India.

President Dingwall is further scheduled to meet with industry bodies such as the National Economic Forum, and State Council of Educational Research and Training, Telangana marking a strategic step towards bridging academia with economic policy and industry insights.

CBU is globally recognised for its strong emphasis on experiential learning, research-driven education, and student success, and is home to a diverse student community representing more than 70 countries and offers more than 60 areas of study, supported by a close-knit learning environment and industry-aligned programs designed for emerging global careers. Chairman, National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) and EC-NAAC, Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, will be the Chief Guest. The convocation will also be attended by Guests of Honour, including Chancellor, Shobit Deemed University, and Chairman, ASSOCHAM-NCE, Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra; Vice Chancellor, ATLAS SkillTech University, Mumbai, Dr Rajan Welukar; Director, IISER Mohali, Prof Anil Kumar Tripathi; and Founder, JAN AI, Bengaluru, Dr Madan Padaki.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Chancellor, Pro Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Governing Body, Board of Management, and Academic Council of Shoolini University, who will jointly confer degrees upon the graduating students.

Out of the total graduating cohort, 518 students will receive postgraduate degrees, while 569 students will be awarded undergraduate degrees across diverse disciplines. In addition, 85 scholars will be conferred with doctoral degrees in recognition of their advanced research contributions.

Recognising academic excellence, the university will also honour 30 University Medallists and 23 Merit Certificate holders during the convocation ceremony. These awards highlight the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent and rewarding outstanding academic performance.

The convocation ceremony, scheduled to commence at 3:00 pm onwards, is expected to bring together students, faculty members, parents, and dignitaries in a celebration of academic achievement and institutional pride.
