Eco friendly Paver Block making facility ‘Eco Brick’ inaugurated at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant

‘Eco Brick’ an eco-friendly Paver Block manufacturing facility from LD Slag was inaugurated by Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge (DIC) at the Materials Recovery Department (MRD) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 28^th December, 2024. Present on the occasion were Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. Alok Verma, ED In-Charge (Works), Mr. B R Palai, ED (Operations), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), many CGMs and Senior Officers of the plant. This innovative facility is dedicated to the production of paver blocks utilizing LD slag, a by-product of steelmaking, as a core material, addressing environmental challenges while advancing waste utilisation, and circular economy.

The new Paver Block Manufacturing Facility is equipped to produce high-quality paver blocks with a concrete grade of M200 (1:1.5:3) and a block thickness of 80 mm. The facility has daily production capacity of 1,000 units, which converts to yearly output of 3 lakh units.

With an annual influx of 10 lakh tons of LD slag from the Steel Melting Shop (SMS), this facility is a significant step in utilizing slag for innovative applications. Currently, internal consumption across RMHP, SMS-II, T&RM, and other departments is limited to 2 lakh tons per annum. This initiative ensures a substantial portion of slag is repurposed, alleviating disposal burdens and contributing to sustainable steel production.

Coal India distributes Eco-Friendly bags

Coal India Limited distributed reusable, eco-friendly bazaar bags in Kolkata as a part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada. These bags have been made from recycled old clothes by a women-run charitable organisation.

This initiative aims to encourage individuals to adopt environmentally friendly practices and reduce the use of plastic in their daily lives.

Ganga Realty organizes a plantation drive at its head office in Gurugram

Gurugram-based realty developer Ganga Realty organized a plantation drive at its head office in Gurugram witnessing enthusiastic participation from employees. The intent behind the plantation drive was to spread a message of an eco-friendly and greener environment where an effort from every citizen is crucial. Neeraj K Mishra, Executive Director of Ganga Realty was also present at the occasion and motivated everybody to plant saplings and engage in the plantation drive.

The employees of Ganga Realty planted 500 saplings in total. The company has always been a voice of reason and promoted pro-environmental initiatives and help in reducing carbon footprints and pollution to maximum levels by promoting Sustainable Architecture in the Indian real estate scenario.
