The workshop witnessed the enthusiastic and dignified participation of employees from various departments of ECL Headquarters. The primary objective of the programme was to acquaint participants with the techniques of typing in Hindi on computers and to promote the effective use of Hindi in official correspondence and day-to-day office work.

During the training session, participants were introduced to various aspects of Hindi typing, including Unicode-based typing methods, keyboard layouts, and practical techniques for carrying out official work efficiently in Hindi. Hands-on practice sessions enabled participants to gain practical experience and enhance their proficiency in Hindi typing.

The participants attended the sessions with keen interest and actively engaged in the practical exercises, making the programme both informative and interactive. The workshop helped strengthen their confidence in using Hindi as an official language in digital work environments.

The Official Language Department of ECL continues to organise such capacity-building initiatives from time to time to promote the effective implementation of the Official Language Policy of the Government of India and to encourage greater use of Hindi in official communication across the organisation.

The award ceremony was held at Kolkata, recently Shri Niladri Roy, Director (Technical/Operations), ECL attended the event along with the proud members of the Women Rescue Team, who have brought great honour to ECL with their remarkable achievement.

Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, Additional Secretary (Coal),  & Chairman (Additional Charge);  Director (HR), Dr. Vinay Ranjan; Director (Marketing), Shri Mukesh Choudhary; Director (Finance), Shri Mukesh Agrawal; Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak; Director (Business Development), Shri Asheesh Kumar, and Chief Vigilance Officer, Shri Brajesh Kumar Tripathy were present on the occasion.

The inaugural session featured insightful addresses from distinguished guests, including renowned Ad Guru Shri Prahlad Kakkar, who delivered a thought-provoking talk on *“The Art of Narrative Building in Public Life.”* Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), Coal India Limited, in his keynote address, emphasized the importance of effective communication in fostering trust and transparency, while Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD, CCL, highlighted the strategic role of PR in enhancing institutional reputation. Shri Satish Jha, CMD, ECL, shared his perspective on *“Transforming Public Relations: From Communication to Connection in the Digital Age.”* The event also featured interactive sessions and panel discussions on emerging trends, ethics in communication, and the growing influence of social media as a key engagement tool.

Of these, 38 appointments were made under the Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) Policy, while 12 were granted under the Dependent Employment Scheme as per the National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA). This initiative continues ECL’s longstanding support for families of deceased employees, helping ease their hardships and demonstrating the company’s enduring commitment to employee well-being.

The ceremony was attended by key officials including Director (Finance) Md. Anzar Alam, Director (Technical/Operations) Shri Niladri Roy, Chief Vigilance Officer Smt. Deepti Patel, Director (HR) Shri Gunjan Kumar Sinha, and Director (Technical/P&P) Shri Girish Gopinathan Nair. The dignitaries encouraged the new appointees to serve with dedication and uphold integrity in their roles.

Shri Jha emphasized the coal company’s inherent responsibility towards ecological sustainability, urging departments to improve dust control, conduct thorough environmental impact assessments, and prevent water pollution, while advocating for safer drinking water for local communities. A heartfelt appeal was made for employees to plant trees in their children’s names, especially on birthdays, as a lasting legacy for future generations. The establishment of a plastic waste handling unit at Bankola was highlighted as a commendable initiative, with suggestions to expand such efforts along highways and in markets to promote community participation in waste management. Echoing the theme of World Environment Day 2025, Shri Jha stressed scaling up environmental efforts through a mission-driven approach, continuous innovation, and integrating eco-friendly practices into daily life, including the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. The event culminated in a renewed collective commitment, inspiring purposeful action and reaffirming ECL’s dedication to leading in environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
