DVC Introduces Cashless Medicine Purchase Facility for Employees

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has launched a new cashless medicine purchase facility, marking a significant step toward enhancing employee healthcare support. The initiative was inaugurated by Shri S. Suresh Kumar, IAS, Chairman, DVC, in the presence of Board Members at DVC Towers. The facility enables employees to access prescribed medicines without upfront payment, ensures timely treatment, reduces paperwork through digital records, and simplifies billing through direct settlement between empanelled Frank Ross pharmacies and DVC. A total of 50 authorised outlets will provide this service, including doorstep delivery in Kolkata via WhatsApp at 91477 33373.

The scheme provides benefits to regular employees, dependents, retirees, spouses, FTEs, and casual or supply workers through cashless or discounted medicine purchases. It is also expected to lower DVC’s medical expenditure through standardised discounts on medicines and consumables. Overall, the initiative strengthens welfare measures, improves convenience, and enhances transparency and efficiency in healthcare support across the organisation.

Coal India and DVC Form Joint Venture to Develop 1,600 MW Thermal Power Project in Jharkhand

Coal India Limited, the country’s largest coal-producing PSU, has entered into a strategic 50:50 Joint Venture with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to develop a brownfield thermal power project at Chandrapura in Jharkhand. The Chandrapura Thermal Power Project will add 1,600 MW of supercritical capacity through two 800 MW units, bolstering India’s baseload power generation and supporting the nation’s energy transition goals. The MoU was signed by Shri Tushar Kumar, ED (Renewables), Coal India, and Shri Rajesh Kumar, ED (Distribution), DVC, in the presence of Chairman Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS; Shri S. Suresh Kumar, IAS, CMD, DVC; Shri Ashim Kumar Modi, JS & FA, MoC; Director (Business Development) Shri Asheesh Kumar; and other senior officials from both organisations.

DVC Signs Power Purchase Agreements with SJVN Limited to Enhance Reliable and Affordable Power Supply

DVC and SJVN Limited have signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for procurement of power from the Sunni Dam Hydro Project and the Luhri Stage-I Hydro Project of SJVN Limited. This is in addition to the five Power Purchase Agreements recently signed between DVC and NHPC. These agreements will further strengthen the reliability of power supply across the Damodar Valley region. Under the latest agreements, DVC will procure hydropower from SJVN Limited to meet the demand of consumers connected to the DVC system.
