<p><strong>Press Release | New Delhi, India — </strong>The Raahgiri Foundation, in partnership with International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) and GuruJal, and supported by Nagarro, proudly announces the inaugural Urban Adda 2025- a three-day conference scheduled from June 3 (World Bicycle Day) to June 5 (World Environment Day) at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.</p>
<p>India stands at a critical juncture in its urban journey. As the population surges towards 1.7 billion by 2047, with over 50% living in cities, the urgency to shape sustainable, equitable, and resilient urban spaces has never been greater. Urban Adda 2025 is path-breaking in its format and focus—it blends rigorous policy dialogue with creative expression, youth engagement, and cross-sectoral collaboration.</p>
<p>This conference will bring changemakers, thought leaders, and active citizens together to celebrate and co-create solutions sustainable, inclusive, and equitable cities where walkability, clean air, road safety, equity, and opportunity are central.</p>
<p>The speakers will include <strong>Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs &amp; Sports; Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi; Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of Delhi; Shri Rao Narbir Singh, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Government of Haryana; and Shri Rajyavardhan Rathore, Hon’ble Minister, Government of Rajasthan.</strong></p>

</strong>With focused discussions on key urban challenges—waste, gender, transport, climate, and culture—this day emphasizes creative solutions and culminates in the much-anticipated Urban Adda Film Festival (UAFF-25).</p>
<p><strong>Urban Adda Film Festival – June 4, 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Stein Auditorium, IHC<br />
</strong>Curated by Chandramouli Basu of Indigo Creative, UAFF-25 invites filmmakers to submit short films (under 5 minutes, fiction or non-fiction) on nature and climate resilience in urban settings. Actor and influencer Pooja Bedi will present awards at the gala night. The evening will include film screenings, a changemaker dialogue, and close with a Gala Dinner featuring performances and networking with global delegates.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;" align="center"><b>GANDHINAGAR, 17 August 2023: Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, </b>Minister for Health &amp; Family Welfare and Chemicals &amp; Fertilizers, Govt of India inaugurated India’s 1<sup>st</sup> ever MedTech Expo organized by the <b>Department of Pharmaceuticals</b>, Government of India jointly with <b>FICCI, </b>which is being held from 17<sup>th</sup> to 19<sup>th</sup> August at Helipad Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat in presence of <b>Mr Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel</b>, Chief Minister of Gujarat. The event was attended by <b>Ms Rushikesh Patel, </b>Health Minister Government of Gujarat<b>; Ms S Aparna, </b>Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India<b>; Mr Raj Kumar</b> Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat;<b> Mr Tushar Sharma</b>, Chair FICCI Medical Devices Committee; CEOs of Medtech industry; other luminaries from trade and industry; senior officials from Government of India and State Governments; exhibitors from medical device industry and buyers from India as well as abroad.</p>
<p>Addressing the inaugural session <b>Dr Mandaviya</b> said that the event is first of its kind, being organized as a co-branded event of G-20 Health Ministers’ Meet being held in Gandhinagar. Global MedTech industry is eager to invest in India due to transparent policies and holistic approach of the government, under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The recent unveiling of National Medical Devices Policy, PLI schemes and development of Medical Devices Parks are some of the examples of the policy initiatives. As a result of all these efforts, global investors are getting attracted to India’s MedTech sector and many MNCs are willing to invest in the country. The Expo showcases best of current, as well as futuristic technologies in the medical devices sector. It brings together industry – foreign as well as domestic manufacturers including MSMEs, state governments, research and development institutions, startups, regulators and buyers. The Expo will go a long way in facilitating exchange of ideas and information, building collaborations and partnerships, promoting trade and investment along with research and innovation in the sector.</p>
<p><b>Mr Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel,</b> Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat said, “The State is the hub of Pharma and MedTech industry in the country. It is because of the investor friendly policies of the state government that Gujarat accounts for around 33 per cent of India’s pharma production. We endeavour to provide all the impetus to the industry in the future as well and we are very hopeful of attracting more investors from around the world.”</p>
<p><b>Dr V K Paul, Member NITI Aayog</b> said, “The advancement in technology and innovation has changed the landscape and offerings of the medical devices sector in many ways. India’s MedTech sector is now at an inflexion point to move in the direction of exponential growth both in terms of quality and quantity, as well as its reach globally, which will realize the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”</p>
<p>Highlighting the measures taken by the government, <b>Ms S Aparna,</b> Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, said, “The government has taken a number of policy measures along with PLI initiatives to support the MedTech sector and is open to taking all necessary steps to support universal healthcare not only for Indians but also for the world.”</p>
<p><b>Mr Suresh Vazrani,</b> CMD, Transasia Bio-Medicals Limited spoke on the potential of India’s MedTech sector, and <b>Mr Tushar Sharma,</b> Chair, FICCI Medical Device Committee and Managing Director &amp; GM, Abbott Vascular delivered the vote of thanks.</p>
<p>On the occasion, a compendium on MedTech Expo, booklets on Future &amp; R&amp;D Pavilions and a coffee table book on India Pharmaceuticals sector were also released.</p>
<p>The ‘<b>INDIA MEDTECH EXPO’ </b>has the central theme <b>‘India: The Next MedTech Global Hub</b>’ <b><i>Future of Devices, Diagnostics and Digital</i></b>’. <p>Investment in Digital Technology to Extend India&#8217;s Services Through Telemedicine: Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General, WHO</p>
<p><strong>GANDHINAGAR, 17 August 2023:</strong> Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India today said that India is working towards creating a people-centric value-based system of healthcare. Highlighting the potential of India&#8217;s medical value travel sector he said, “The sector is projected to reach $ 13 billion by 2026, and this will be supported by the years of creating a borderless world along with highly qualified and skilful workforce to contribute to organized system of workforce mobility.”</p>
<p>Addressing the ‘One Earth, One Health &#8211; Advantage Healthcare India 2023 (AHCI)’, organized by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India and FICCI, Dr Mandaviya added, &#8220;India is known as the Pharmacy of the world. It is the largest provider of generic medicines globally and has 20 per cent of the global supply and has contributed 60 per cent of the global vaccine. This shows our commitment to the global community. AHCI 2023 will focus on promoting value-based healthcare through medical value travel. Patients can travel to any part of the world to access specialized treatment from renowned medical experts and cutting-edge facilities.”</p>
<p>Dr Mandaviya also launched ‘Advantage Healthcare India Portal’ for promoting value-based health care based on principles of patient mobility and health workforce mobility. &#8220;The launch of India&#8217;s one-stop digital portal is not just a milestone for India, but a significant step towards fulfilling our global responsibilities,” he asserted.</p>
<p>Mr Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of AYUSH, Government of India said, “The only way to combat the alarming problem of health is to implement a harmonized and coordinated studies of traditional medicine through effective governance. India being a soft power in the traditional system of medicine can play a vital role here in mitigation of this alarming sense in healthcare.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mr Sonowal further stated that there has been increasing demand for AYUSH not only in India but across the world and the AYUSH market is projected to reach $ 23.3 billion soon. “This is indicative of the growing AYUSH ecosystem and its widespread adoption in public health,” he added.</p>
<p>Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General, World Health Organization (WHO) said that investing in digital technology is very important because the services that can be provided from India could also be available to all through telemedicine. It will help patients who cannot afford to travel long distances. The services can be available to the world through digital technology. &#8220;This is a great opportunity for India especially in the Medical Value sector, as it can give you a huge advantage and the sector can be further strengthened by building capacities,” he added.</p>
<p>Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State (BPP), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India said, &#8220;To achieve affordable and accessible healthcare for all, the government is actively pursuing the establishment of integrative medicine wings in all hospitals. The combination of traditional and modern medicine is crucial, and this integration is important in remote areas.”</p>
<p>Prof SP Singh Baghel, Minister of State (SPSB), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India, expressed, &#8220;Medical Value Travel is a link between patients and health service providers and we aim to create synergies with the global health eco-system.”</p>
<p>Mr Sudhansh Pant, Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India said &#8220;AHCI 2023 hopes to promote collaborative healthcare efforts across the border, knowledge sharing and capacity building among the countries and various healthcare providers.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mr Pankaj Patel, Past President, FICCI and Chairman, Zydus Lifesciences said, “Treating a patient involves two crucial aspects: providing medical intervention such as medication or surgery, and equally important, attending to their psychological well-being.”</p>
<p>Dr Sangita Reddy, Past President, FICCI and Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group said, &#8220;We believe that establishing partnerships is essential for effectively treating patients today and for developing the necessary infrastructure and resources in their countries for future treatments and advancements. Therefore, we need to strive to build bridges of collaboration and mutual support that will benefit all involved parties.”</p>
<p>Mr G Kamala Vadhana Rao, Secretary to the Government of India &amp; CEO, FSSAI and Ms Aradhana Patnaik, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India also expressed their insights during the event.</p>
<p>The purpose of the three-day occasion is to highlight India&#8217;s role as the emerging centre for Medical Value Travel, underscoring its transformation into a prominent provider of top-notch healthcare and wellness offerings. The summit aims to foster healthcare partnerships among the nations involved, encouraging collaboration.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate the Swasthya Chintan Shivir today at Dehradun in Uttarakhand. The two-day Chintan Shivir will be organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare. The Health Ministers of various States and Union Territories are expected to join the event. The two-day event will begin with the tabling of the Action Taken Report of the 14th Convention of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare. It will be followed by sessions focusing on various facets of healthcare in the country.</p>
<p>The sessions will highlight four aspects of Ayushman Bharat, including Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Health and Wellness Centres as well as Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission(PM-ABHIM). The thematic sessions will also focus on the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, the elimination of measles, rubella, and the implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques- PCPNDT Act in India.</p>
