New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has launched a large-scale ecological restoration programme across the Delhi Ridge under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. As part of the initiative, the authority aims to plant 23 lakh indigenous saplings across the national capital under the 70 Lakh Plantation Mission. To restore the Ridge’s natural ecosystem, around 16,240 invasive trees and shrubs are being removed, while nearly one lakh indigenous trees and 81,700 native shrubs will be planted. The objective is to revive the original structure, biodiversity and ecological functions of the Ridge forests rather than merely increasing Delhi’s green cover.

The plantation drive will continue throughout the ongoing planting season as the DDA works towards achieving its ambitious plantation target. To make the campaign a people’s movement, the authority has partnered with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), educational institutions, religious organisations, corporate bodies and volunteer groups. Through these collaborations, the DDA aims to encourage greater public participation and strengthen community involvement in greening and conserving Delhi’s environment.

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) have entered a partnership to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the national capital. CESL, a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has signed an agreement with DDA to make the coalition official. Under the partnership, these organizations will set up electric vehicle charging stations and battery swapping stations across DDA sports complexes in the city.

As per the agreement, DDA will provide sufficient vacant land at specified sites within its sports complexes. CESL will use these locations to set up and manage public charging infrastructure. The selected spots for the installation of EV charging and battery swapping stations are distributed across North Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and East Delhi, providing broader access to efficient charging options for EV users in the city.

Commenting on the collaboration, MD & CEO, CESL, Shri Vishal Kapoor said: “This partnership between CESL and DDA marks a crucial milestone in Delhi’s EV journey. By leveraging CESL’s expertise in upscaling clean energy solutions, we are creating a robust and accessible EV charging network that will drive faster EV adoption. CESL remains committed to pioneering sustainable and scalable solutions that contribute to India’s decarbonisation goals.”
