Mrs. Namrata Verma, President (DMS) presided over the function and launched the bag distribution programme for the current academic session. Present on the occasion were Mrs. Pravati Misra, Mrs. Pragyan Palai, Mrs. Vandana Singh, Mrs. Rita Rani, and Mrs. Nabanita Pal Chowdhury, the Vice-Presidents of DMS. The function was attended by Mr. T. G. Kanekar, CGM (TA & CSR), Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), Mr. T. B. Toppo, AGM (CSR), Ms. Sarika Kumar, Secretary (DMS), Governing Body Members of DMS along with Ms. S. Samal, Headmistress, Mr. S. K. Mishra, School Administrator, Ms. Niharika Bhal, Assistant Headmistress and other teachers and staff of the School.

The dignitaries present also distributed School Bags to the newly admitted students of Class – I.  Rest of the students will get the bags in a phased manner. Notably, this year 75 students have taken admission in Class – I.

Presently around 900 students are enrolled in Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan studying in classes 1 to 10. Every year the students get the entire set of study material, accessories and uniforms including shoes and school bags for free. Nutritious mid-day meal is also being provided to them through the Akshaya Patra project of RSP.

The pack of certificates included School Leaving Certificates, Conduct Certificates, Migration Certificates, Original Board Certificates and Rajyapal Puraskar Certificates for the year 2023-24 for Scout and Guide students.

Notably, the school achieved a remarkable academic milestone of achieving 100% pass rate for the 10th consecutive year. Out of 86 students who appeared this year in the Class-X Board Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, 26 secured First Division, 31 achieved Second Division, and 29 passed with Third Division. Subhalaxmi Sahoo topped the school with 521 marks, followed by Suprava Tandi with 501 marks and Srutismita Pattnaik with 497 marks. In grading terms, 5 students secured A2 grade, 7 secured B1 grade, and 14 received B2 grade.

Established in 2007, Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan has been managed by Deepika Mahila Sanghati, a leading philanthropic organisation of the Steel City. Since its first batch appeared for the board exams in 2016, the school has maintained a consistent 100% pass rate. The institution offers quality education on par with any standard school in Rourkela, providing free education, uniforms, winter clothing, shoes, bags, clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and healthy lunches prepared by the Akshaya Patra Foundation. Subhalaxmi Sahoo has topped the school by securing 521 marks. Suprava Tandi has secured 2nd position by getting 501 marks and Srutismita Pattnaik bagged the third place by scoring 497 marks.

5 students have got A2 grade while 7 students have bagged B1 grade and 14 students have secured B2 grade.

It is noteworthy that Deepika Ispat Sikshya   was established in the year 2007. Its first batch of students appeared the Class-10 Board examination in 2016 and the pass rate was 100 percent. The facilities given to the students in the school are at par with any standard school of Rourkela. The children studying here are not only given free education but also provided with uniforms, winter clothes, school shoes, bags and other accessories as well as facilities such as clean drinking water and proper sanitation. Healthy lunch prepared by the Akshaya Patra Foundation an internationally acclaimed NGO is also being given to the children. New facilities are being added every year to enhance the academic ambience and quality of education in the school.

It is worth mentioning here that Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan, a free school set up by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) and run by Deepika Mahila Sangahti is imparting education to around 900 underprivileged students. Apart from free education the students area also provided with all the school accessories and nutritious midday meal.

Addressing the students, Mr.  Tarun Misra encouraged them to excel in every field and carve a niche for themselves in the society. He appreciated the hard work of teachers and staff in taking school to greater heights and urged them to continue the noble work of building future citizens.

Citing examples of Dr. B R Ambedkar and former President Abdul Kalam Azad,  Mrs Namrata Verma encouraged the students to aim high and work relentlessly towards it for carving a better future and contributing meaningfully towards the society. 

The dignitaries presented the general proficiency awards, the prizes for different school level competitions as well as awards to the winners of various sporting events. The Drama team of the school, who staged the show “Mr. Gabridon’, were also felicitated for winning various prizes at the State Level Drama competition.

The mesmerising cultural programme put up by the students added to the beauty of the celebration.

During the programme the Headmaster presented the Annual Report of the School. At the outset Ms. Bijayani Jena, Senior Teacher welcomed the gathering while Ms. Monalisa Gouda, Assistant Teacher of the school proposed a formal vote of thanks.
