A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the project was signed on July 2, 2026, at REC Limited’s Corporate Office in Gurugram between Shri L. B. Nautiyal, HoD (CSR), REC Limited, and Shri B. Vinod Kumar, Director, Indo German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT). The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Shri Arun Kumar Tyagi, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited, and other officials from REC Limited and IGIAT.

Through its CSR initiatives, REC Limited continues to make meaningful investments in education, healthcare, skill development, environmental sustainability, and community development, contributing to inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth across the country.

Over the past two years, Stanley Lifestyles, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bangalore, has invested approximately ₹1.35 crore towards the comprehensive development of the school’s infrastructure. These efforts have included the enhancement of classrooms, sanitation facilities, drinking water systems, play areas and administrative infrastructure, creating a more conducive environment for learning and holistic development.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from Stanley Lifestyles, Rotary Club of Bangalore, school management, teachers, students and community leaders. The newly established auditorium is envisioned as a dynamic space that will nurture creativity, confidence, learning and personal growth among students.

The facilities were officially inaugurated by Shri Nabam Vivek, Hon’ble MLA, along with Shri Takar Rava, ADC Balijan, school representatives, and NTPC officials. The newly established labs aim to nurture a scientific temperament, while the library will serve as an intellectual knowledge hub.

During the ceremony, officials emphasized that investing in quality educational infrastructure is a vital catalyst for social transformation and nation-building. This developmental milestone is strategically designed to provide students with access to modern learning tools, particularly in science and technology. The newly established science laboratories will offer hands-on, practical learning opportunities to cultivate a strong scientific temperament, while the upgraded library is set to serve as a vital knowledge hub that encourages reading, research, and intellectual growth. Additionally, the five new classrooms significantly strengthen the school’s overall academic capacity, helping VKV Balijan smoothly accommodate the growing educational needs of the region.

During the event, officials from both NTPC and VKV Balijan emphasized that investing in educational infrastructure acts as a powerful catalyst for long-term social transformation and nation-building. While NTPC representatives reiterated their corporate dedication to sustainable community impact, the administration of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya expressed deep gratitude, noting that these upgraded facilities will enhance the daily teaching-learning experience for hundreds of students. As a responsible corporate citizen, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to drive inclusive growth across the region through impactful CSR initiatives spanning education, healthcare, skill development, and environmental sustainability.

Under the initiative, NTPC will provide financial support of up to ?1.48 crore through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to strengthen science and technology education in the district.

The project will involve setting up STEM laboratories equipped with learning tools such as robotics kits, renewable energy models, electronics modules, and digital learning aids. It will also include teacher training programmes, infrastructure support, and maintenance assistance.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal and Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of Human Resources at NTPC Bongaigaon.

According to officials, the Ri-Bhoi district administration will serve as the implementing agency and oversee procurement, execution, quality assurance, and coordination with participating schools. NTPC will monitor progress through periodic reviews and impact assessments.

The initiative aims to promote experiential learning and strengthen students’ understanding of science and technology through hands-on activities rather than classroom instruction alone.

Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, in the presence of Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, distributed more than 100 educational kits to the students. Interacting with the children on the occasion, Shri Maitra encouraged them to pursue education with dedication and wished them a bright and successful future.

The students expressed their happiness and gratitude for NTPC’s thoughtful gesture, while the school Principal and faculty members conveyed their appreciation for the support extended to the institution. Shri Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, NTPC Bongaigaon, along with members of the HR team, was also present during the programme.
