										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>NEW DELHI.</strong> India and Bhutan on Tuesday reviewed and reaffirmed their long-standing cooperation in the power sector, with discussions focusing on hydropower development, cross-border transmission, and future collaboration. Bhutan’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Lyonpo Gem Tshering, met Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, along with Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik, to explore ways to further strengthen bilateral energy ties.</p>
<p>The two sides discussed commercial optimisation of power generation from the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project and emphasised early commissioning of the 1,200 MW Punatsangchhu-I project. They also reviewed the roadmap for the proposed Sankosh Hydropower Project, development of cross-border transmission links up to 2040, and measures to streamline power scheduling during Bhutan’s lean generation months, reaffirming their commitment to deepening cooperation in the power sector.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Gurugram.</strong> Power Grid Corporation of India has signed Joint Venture and Shareholders’ Agreement with Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for development of high-capacity cross-border power transmission system in presence of His Excellency Shri Kulman Ghising, Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal, and Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing &amp; Urban Affairs, Govt. of India. Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Govt. of India, Dr. R. K. Tyagi, CMD, POWERGRID, Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel) POWERGRID were present during this occasion.</p>
<p>The proposed Cross-Border Transmission System Projects include the development of the Inaruwa (Nepal) – New Purnea (India) 400 kV Double Circuit (Quad Moose) Transmission Link and Lamki (Dododhara) (Nepal) – Bareilly (India) 400 kV Double Circuit (Quad Moose) Transmission Link. Once completed, these transmission corridors will substantially enhance the electricity exchange between India and Nepal, strengthening regional energy security, improving grid resilience, and contributing to sustained economic growth in both nations.</p>
<p>As on 15th October 2025, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 287 substations, and more than 1,80,864 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, and 5,81,831 MVA of transformation capacity. POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability of 99.83%.</p>
