										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h1>48,648 new Covid-19 cases</h1>
<p>India reported 48,648 cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 563 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to 8,088,851, according to the Union health ministry’s data on Friday morning. The number of new cases was less than Thursday morning’s 603,687 but there were 46 more fatalities on Friday, which have raised the death toll to 121,090.</p>
<p>Active cases of the coronavirus disease stand at 594,386, down from 603,687 on Thursday morning, as of 8am on Friday, the health ministry’s dashboard showed. The health ministry has stressed that the declining trend of the active cases of Covid-19 is supported by a rising number of recovered cases in the country. The number of recovered cases is at 7,373,375 and the gap between recovered and active cases has crossed 6,778,989. The national recovery rate is at 91.15% now.</p>
<p>The country’s testing capacities have been ramped up multiple times. 15 lakh tests can be done very day now.With <strong>10,75,760 </strong>tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the cumulative tests have crossed 10.65 crore (<strong>10,65,63,440</strong>).Nearly 11 lakh tests have been conducted daily on an average during the past six weeks.The cumulative positivity rate has been falling progressively and has touched <strong>7.54%</strong> today.India continues to maintain the declining trend of the active cases. Active cases stand at <strong>6,03,687 today.</strong> It comprises only <strong>7.51% </strong>of the total positive cases of the country. The declining trend of the active cases is supported by rising number of recovered cases. The total recovered cases have crossed 73 lakh (<strong>73,15,989)</strong>. The gap between Recovered cases and Active cases has crossed <strong>67 lakh (67,12,302). </strong>With increasing number of recoveries, this gap is continuously widening.<strong>56,480 </strong>have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours whereas the new confirmed cases stand at <strong>49,881. 79%</strong> of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs.<strong>517 </strong>case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, <strong>nearly 81%</strong> are concentrated in ten States/UT.</p>
<p>Meanwhile Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health &amp; Family Welfare held a meeting through video conferencing to review COVID-19 preparedness and measures for ensuring COVID Appropriate Behaviour with Dr C. Vijayabaskar, Health and Medical Education Minister, Tamil Nadu and other senior officials of the State Government, yesterday.Reiterating Prime Minister&#8217;s clarion call of building a Jan-Andolan against COVID, Dr Vardhansaid, “The State needs to enhance the awareness amongst the citizen regarding the need and virtues of using masks/face covers, physical distancing and regular hand hygiene. “The coming long festive season pose a significant risk that may threaten the improvements made against COVID-19 so far. We should all be vigilant for the next three months. Following simple Covid appropriate behaviour will be effective in cutting transmission of Corona. Prime Minister’s message of wearing a mask/face cover, maintaining a physical distance and frequent handwashing should reach the last citizen”, he stated.Comparing the COVID parameters of Tamil Nadu with that of the country, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, “Tamil Nadu has a Recovery Rate of 94.6% which is more than the national recovery rate. The case fatality rate is 1.54% which is at par with the national average.”</p>

<p>Home Minister Amit Shah was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi complaining of fatigue and body aches for the last 3-4 days. He has recently recovered fron covid infection and was on rest.</p>
<p>The union minister has been complaining of fatigue and body aches for the last 3-4 days, said the hospital in a press release on August 18. He has been admitted to AIIMS for post-COVID care, the hospital said.</p>
<p>According to the press release, &#8220;he is comfortable and is continuing his work from hospital.&#8221;</p>
<p>He tweeted saying, &#8220;On getting the initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your inquiry done.&#8221;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&#8220;Today my corona test report has come negative. I thank God and also express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who blessed me and my family by wishing me well during this period. Will stay in home isolation for a few more days on the advice of doctors,&#8221; Shah had tweeted.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sustaining the fight against Covid-19, Indian Railways is making an all out effort to supplement the health care efforts of State Governments. Indian Railways has geared up to provide its 5231 Covid Care Coaches to the States. Zonal Railways have converted these coaches as COVID Care Centres to be used for very mild / mild cases.</p>
<p>As of now, Indian Railways has deployed total 960 COVID Care coaches in 5 states i.e. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhara Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. Out of total 960 COVID Care coaches, 503 COVID Care coaches have been deployed in Delhi, 20 in Andhra Pradesh, 60 in Telangana, 372 in Uttar Pradesh and 5 in Madhya Pradesh.</p>
<p>In Delhi, 503 COVID Care coaches are deployed at 9 locations. 50 COVID Care coaches are deployed at Shakurbasti, 267 at Anand Vihar, 21 at Delhi Safdarjung, 50 at Delhi Sarai Rohilla, 33 at Delhi Cant, 30 at Adarsh Nagar, 13 at Delhi Shahadra, 13 at Tughlakabad and 26 at Patel Nagar.</p>
<p>In Uttar Pradesh, total 372 COVID Care coaches have been deployed at 23 different locations i.e. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jn., Lucknow, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Faizabad, Saharanpur, Mirzapur, Subedarganj, Kanpur, Jhansi, Jhansi Workshop, Agra, Nakha Jungle, Gonda, Nautanwa, Bahraich, Varanasi City, Manduadih, Mau, Bhatni, Bareilly City, Farrukhabad and Kasganj.</p>
<p>In Madhya Pradesh, total 5 COVID Care coaches are deployed at Gwalior. In Andhra Pradesh, total 20 COVID Care coaches are deployed at Vijayawada while in Telangana, a total of 60 COVID Care coaches are deployed at 3 different locations i.e. Secunderabad, Kachguda and Adilabad.</p>
<p>As per guidelines of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Government of India, these State Governments have sent the requisition to Indian Railways and Railways have allocated these coaches to the State/UTs.</p>
<p>It is worth mentioning that Indian Railways is working as Service Provider of Coaches as COVID Care Centres as its contribution to national cause. Doctors and paramedics are to be provided by State Governments. This is as per MOHFW guidelines issued on 6th May 2020.</p>
<p>Railways will deploy 2 liaison officers for each location of coaches to assist State Government officials. All efforts are being made to reduce the heat in the coaches in the given weather conditions. Railways to assist State Government in all possible manners to help in care of Covid patients.</p>
<p>It may be noted that these Coaches can be used for very mild cases that can be clinically assigned to the Covid Care centers as per guidelines issued by MoHFW. These coaches can be used in areas where State has exhausted the facilities and needs to augment capacities for isolation of both suspect and confirmed Covid cases. These facilities are part of the integrated COVID plan developed by MoHFW and NITI Ayog.</p>
