With a financial commitment of approximately ?35.99 lakh, Project SAKSHAM aims to empower 50 unemployed and underemployed youth, particularly from Project Affected Villages (PAVs) and neighbouring communities of Kokrajhar district. The initiative will provide specialised training in Polymer Science and Processing, equipping participants with industry-relevant technical knowledge and practical skills to improve their employability and livelihood prospects.

The selected youth will undergo structured training at CIPET Guwahati, covering polymer materials, processing technologies, quality control, industrial safety and related applications. The programme will combine classroom instruction with hands-on practical training, industry exposure, career guidance and placement assistance. During the ceremony, the dignitaries interacted with the trainees, learnt about their aspirations and encouraged them to pursue the programme with dedication, discipline and a commitment to continuous learning.

Aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission and the Sustainable Development Goals relating to quality education, decent work and economic growth, and reduced inequalities, Project SAKSHAM reflects NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive development and sustainable livelihood creation. By connecting local talent with specialised technical training, the initiative seeks to open new avenues for employment and entrepreneurship while contributing to the socioeconomic development of Kokrajhar and the wider Bodoland Territorial Region.

Designed as a substantial contribution to a greener tomorrow, the initiative will see the planting of 6450 saplings over the next three months. The meticulously selected species comprise 4300 Bougainvillea (Thimma) and 2150 Nerium Oleander plants. These varieties were specifically chosen for their robust ecological value, resilience and long-term capability to enrich the surrounding landscape.

This drive exemplifies Jai Raj Ispat Limited’s steadfast dedication to sustainable development and responsible corporate citizenship. By significantly expanding the green cover within and around the manufacturing premises, the company proactively supports local biodiversity, enhances air quality and fosters a broader culture of environmental awareness.

The awareness programme attracted the attention of shoppers and visitors, using an engaging and satirical performance to deliver the message of keeping public spaces clean and adopting responsible civic behaviour.

The Nukkad Natak highlighted the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and practising good hygiene in everyday life. Through entertaining performances and relatable situations, the actors encouraged people to make cleanliness a daily habit rather than a one-time effort.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the project was signed on July 2, 2026, at REC Limited’s Corporate Office in Gurugram between Shri L. B. Nautiyal, HoD (CSR), REC Limited, and Shri B. Vinod Kumar, Director, Indo German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT). The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Shri Arun Kumar Tyagi, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited, and other officials from REC Limited and IGIAT.
