NEW DELHI. Rahul Kashyap, Group Executive Director at PRP Group, recently participated in a panel discussion titled ‘The Silence Strategy: The Power of What Brands Don’t Say’ at the BW BusinessWorld summit. During the session, he highlighted how silence is strategically used as a powerful tool not just by corporations, but also by governments worldwide. He noted that even in today’s hyper-digital age, political leaders effectively use silence as a protective shield to navigate complex situations and choppy waters safely.

The panel also featured distinguished industry leaders, including former PwC India Chief Marketing and Communication Officer Nandini Chatterjee and BJP Spokesperson and senior lawyer Charu Pragya. The insightful session was moderated by BW Business World Senior Editor Ruhail Amin.

SINGRAOULI. Returning to NTPC Singrauli after nearly 25 years was far more than an official assignment; it was a profound opportunity to reconnect with the enduring values, exceptional people, and foundational memories that shape our professional journeys. Under the expert guidance of Shri K.M. Prashanth, Former GM (CC) and HOD, NTPC, a specialized two-day Corporate Communication workshop was successfully conducted at the company’s pioneer power station. The visit proved to be both deeply nostalgic and immensely inspiring, illustrating how NTPC’s flagship plant successfully blends its rich legacy with progressive, forward-looking strategies.

A standout testament to Singrauli’s enduring legacy is its very first 200 MW unit. Commissioned way back in 1982, this unit continues to operate at a phenomenal Plant Load Factor (PLF) of nearly 100%. More than four decades later, it stands as a shining template of engineering excellence, rigorous operational discipline, and a robust maintenance culture. Beyond generating critical power for the nation, NTPC Singrauli continues to produce something equally invaluable: institutional knowledge, leadership, and a template of inspiration for the entire power sector.

The comprehensive communication workshops engaged a vibrant cross-section of the township’s stakeholders. Crucial discussions with regional media representatives centered on upholding journalistic credibility, maintaining corporate transparency, combating fake news, and navigating the rising influence of Artificial Intelligence in media management. Dedicated interactive sessions with NTPC executives reinforced the core philosophy that the fundamentals of effective communication—reading, writing, and active listening—remain indispensable.

The training culminated in an advanced session with the senior leadership team focusing on Crisis Communication, where a realistic mock press conference demonstrated that successful crisis mitigation relies as much on proactive preparation, institutional credibility, and empathy as it does on hard facts.

The engagement also extended beautifully to the next generation, featuring an energetic interaction with nearly 150 local school students. The infectious enthusiasm of the youth was channeled into a lively quiz competition, where students were passionately encouraged to cultivate diverse hobbies, sustain their innate curiosity, and build lifelong reading habits.

Furthermore, the journey itself brought forward-looking reflections, from observing the vibrant, screen-free township life with families playing badminton at the Executive Club, to recognizing the regional need for enhanced road connectivity on the drive from Varanasi to Singrauli—a vital belt that actively powers the nation.

The successful workshop received widespread interest and appreciation across all stakeholder groups. Immense gratitude is extended to Shri E. Prabhakara Rao, Executive Director and Head of Project (HoP), for his stellar encouragement and overarching guidance, as well as to Dr. Om Prakash, Rahul Prasad, and Siddhartha Mandal for their meticulous planning and flawless execution in making this memorable chapter possible. Content shared on a Linked in post by Shri K M Prashanth.

NTPC Corporate Communications has taken a significant step to strengthen engagement with its former Public Relations and Corporate Communication professionals by organising a Social Reconnect initiative on 5 December 2025 at the NTPC CGO Complex, New Delhi. Led by Shri K. M. Prashanth, GM (Corporate Communications), the initiative aimed at reconnecting with senior professionals who played a key role in shaping NTPC’s communication framework and brand identity over the years. The gathering brought together super senior veterans including Shri P. D. Hindwan, Shri P. K. Sinha, Shri T. S. Rajpoot, Shri P. K. Banerjee, Ms. Deepna Mehta, Ms. Ruchi Ratna, Shri A. K. Tiwary, Shri J. P. Sharma and Shri Vijay Juwal, along with the current generation of PR professionals, fostering a meaningful inter-generational interaction.

The initiative focused on leveraging the institutional knowledge, experience and insights of veteran professionals to strengthen NTPC’s present and future communication strategies. Senior members shared valuable perspectives from their professional journeys, while younger professionals gained inspiration and practical learning through these exchanges. Launched last year, the Social Reconnect programme continues to receive strong appreciation, reflecting NTPC’s culture of respect, collaboration and continuous learning. By reconnecting with its communication stalwarts, NTPC has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving legacy, valuing human capital, and building a stronger, knowledge-driven communication ecosystem for the future.
