Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal &amp; Mines, congratulated the Coal India family on its 51st Foundation Day, praising the organization as India’s ‘Energy Lifeline’ and referring to coal workers as “Coal Warriors.” In his virtual address, he emphasized Coal India’s remarkable transformation over the past five decades from manual to automation-driven operations, highlighting its role as an ‘Energy Innovator’ and urging the company to continue playing a pivotal role in ensuring the nation’s energy security.</p>
<p>The Minister also stressed the importance of innovation and technological advancement in the coming decade amid ongoing energy transition challenges. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Coal India entered into a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). The MoU envisions the Brownfield expansion of the Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (CTPS) in Jharkhand by establishing 2×800 MW Ultra Supercritical units. Additionally, it aims to explore joint development of thermal and renewable energy projects, with or without storage, to cater to the growing energy demand in the DVC valley region.</p>
<p>The MoU was inked by Shri Debasish Nanda, Director (Business Development) Coal India and Shri Swapnendu Kumar Panda, Member (Technical), DVC in the presence of our Chairman, Shri P.M. Prasad, and Shri S. Suresh Kumar (IAS), Chairman, DVC, and senior officials of CIL &amp; DVC.</p>

<p>Starting his journey in 1989, as a Junior Executive Trainee in our subsidiary Western Coalfields, Shri Ghatak brings over three decades of experience in the Coal mining sector.</p>
<p>Shri Ghatak introduced MS-Project for the first time in CIL to oversee coal mining projects and created the roadmap for our 1 Bt goal. He also played a crucial role in formulating and implementing the Underground Vision Plan for CIL, contributed to the preparation of CIL’s Vision 2047 and assisted in drafting the MoC’s Vision 2047 document.</p>
