										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Kolkata:</strong> Coal India Limited (CIL) has exceeded its procurement target through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform for the financial year 2025–26. The company has achieved procurement worth approximately Rs 61,891 crore so far, surpassing its annual target of Rs 54,223 crore.</p>
<p>With this performance, Coal India has reached 114 per cent of its full-year GeM procurement target even before the close of the financial year. The achievement highlights the company’s strong adoption of the GeM platform and its commitment to transparent and efficient public procurement practices.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>NAGPUR.</strong> Govt of India has assigned Shri Harish Duhan, CMD  of South Eastern Coalfields Limited, the additional charge of  cMD of Western Coalfields Limited. The additional responsibility will be effective from February 1, 2026, for an initial period of three months or until further orders, whichever is earlier.</p>
<p>Shri Duhan has been serving as CMD of SECL since March 27, 2025, and has over 34 years of experience in the coal mining sector. Under his leadership, SECL has made notable progress in land acquisition, sustainable mining practices, quality coal production and women empowerment. He played a key role in introducing paste-fill technology in underground mines, expanding project land availability, and promoting inclusive workplaces. A mining engineering graduate from Nagpur University, Shri Duhan began his career with WCL in 1989 and has held several senior technical and managerial positions across Coal India subsidiaries.</p>

Sairam has outlined 2026 as the “Year of Reform and Transformation” during a meeting with Functional Directors, the CVO, and senior executives at the company’s headquarters in Kolkata. Reflecting on the organisation’s growth from 79 million tonnes in 1975 to 781 million tonnes in 2025, he stressed the need for continuous reform to stay future-ready. The Chairman called for faster rollout of First Mile Connectivity projects, reduced dependence on road transport, stronger ESG focus, and Coal India’s evolution into a technology-driven enterprise. Directors highlighted priorities including AI-led training, workforce reskilling, cost optimisation, enhanced efficiency, digital initiatives, customer focus, diversification into renewables and critical minerals, and strengthened governance with greater transparency.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>KOLKATA.</strong> Kolkata witnessed the beginning of DVC Pratyay – Corporate Communication Conclave 2025, a significant platform that brought together communication professionals, thought leaders, and industry voices committed to shaping the future of corporate communication. The conclave featured compelling ideas, insightful discussions, and meaningful exchanges that reflected a shared vision for impactful and responsible communication.</p>
<p>Coal India  Director (HR), Dr. Vinay Ranjan, addressed  The Corporate Communication Conclave &#8211; on the theme “Engage to Lead: Reimagining Corporate Communications in a Digital Era”, organised by DVC in Kolkata.</p>
<p>In his address, he traced the brand journey of Coal India since its inception and underscored the company’s role as the lifeline of India’s coal supply for thermal power generation, enabling the nation’s sustained growth. He also highlighted Coal India’s diversification initiatives, which are not only driving expansion, but also emerging as strong branding enablers.</p>
<p>Emphasising the growing importance of social media and digital platforms in storytelling, he elaborated on tools for effective communication, as well as strategies to manage noise and counter negative narratives in the communication ecosystem.</p>
<p>A landmark highlight of the conclave was the launch of five significant publications, reaffirming Damodar Valley Corporation’s deep connection with the Damodar Valley and its people.</p>
<p>The first publication, “The Rendezvous with the Tiger,” is a visual tribute to India’s National Animal, captured through the lens of the DVC family. The photographs and narration were contributed by Shri Bidhan Paul, Senior Manager (Finance), DVC, with design by Shri Abhijit Sen, Manager (HR), DVC.</p>
<p>Another major release, “A Legacy of Service: Serving People, Sustainable Planet,” reflects DVC’s long-standing commitment to community development and environmental sustainability. The publication was unveiled by Shri Gautam Ray, Former President, BCC and I, and developed in collaboration with the BCC and I team led by Smt. Sukanya Bose, Director, along with Shri B. G. Holkar, DGM (CSR), DVC.</p>
<p>The DVC Coffee Table Book on Cultural and Artistic Heritage in the Damodar Valley and CSR Operational Areas celebrates the region’s rich cultural traditions and artistic legacy, highlighting the social fabric of the Valley.</p>
<p>A refreshed edition titled Framing the Valley was also unveiled, showcasing the natural beauty and spirit of the Damodar Valley. This publication was led by Shri Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, CPRO, DVC, and Shri Vikram Singh, PRO, DVC.</p>
<p>Additionally, the DVC CSR Policy was released, outlining the organization’s vision and structured roadmap for responsible, impactful, and community-focused CSR initiatives.</p>
<p>Together, these publications stand as a testament to DVC’s collective effort to document, preserve, and share stories that define its legacy, values, and enduring relationship with the Damodar Valley.</p>

During his visit, he inspected the Dipka Open Cast Project (OCP) from the viewpoint and chaired a review meeting focused on maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence.</p>
<p>Dr. Ranjan also conducted an interactive session titled &#8220;Chai Pe Charcha&#8221; with women employees from the Dipka, Gevra, and Kusmunda Areas. In this session, he highlighted the benefits of the new labour codes introduced by the Government of India and listened to success stories of women employees, appreciating their valuable contributions to the organization’s growth.</p>
<p>Emphasizing the importance of continuous learning, upskilling, and professional development, he encouraged employees to stay future-ready. The Director also held a meeting with the Steering Committee members of SECL and participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative by planting saplings during the visit. Senior management of SECL was present on this occasion, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to sustainable growth and employee engagement.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>KOLKATA.</strong> Coal India Limited, through its flagship CSR initiative Coal India Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojna, continues to make a significant impact in pediatric healthcare by providing financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) procedures for children suffering from Thalassemia and Aplastic Anaemia. Since its launch in 2017, the scheme—now in its third phase—has facilitated more than 800 successful BMTs in collaboration with 18 leading hospitals across India, reaffirming Coal India’s commitment to accessible and life-saving medical support.</p>
<p>Further strengthening its healthcare outreach, Coal India recently signed an MoU with Rainbow Children’s Foundation to enhance support for BMT treatments for underprivileged children. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal &amp; Mines, along with Coal India Chairman Shri Sanoj Jha, Director (HR) Dr. Vinay Ranjan, and senior leadership. The agreement was formalized by Dr. K. Prashanth, Group Medical Director of Rainbow Hospital, and Ms. Rekha Pandey, GM (CSR), marking a major step toward expanding specialized care for children in need.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Coal India Limited, the country’s largest coal-producing PSU, has entered into a strategic 50:50 Joint Venture with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to develop a brownfield thermal power project at Chandrapura in Jharkhand. The Chandrapura Thermal Power Project will add 1,600 MW of supercritical capacity through two 800 MW units, bolstering India’s baseload power generation and supporting the nation’s energy transition goals. The MoU was signed by Shri Tushar Kumar, ED (Renewables), Coal India, and Shri Rajesh Kumar, ED (Distribution), DVC, in the presence of Chairman Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS; Shri S. Suresh Kumar, IAS, CMD, DVC; Shri Ashim Kumar Modi, JS &amp; FA, MoC; Director (Business Development) Shri Asheesh Kumar; and other senior officials from both organisations.</p>
