CMD SECL Discusses Rail Corridors and Coal Dispatch with SECR GM

CMD SECL, Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, met with Ms. Neenu Ittyerah, General Manager of South East Central Railway (SECR), in Bilaspur to discuss key issues surrounding rail corridors and coal transportation. Dr. Mishra emphasized the need to expedite the commencement of CTR work at the Burhar siding and addressed concerns related to the transportation of coal, availability of rakes, and the required support from SECR to enhance the efficiency of coal dispatch operations.

During the meeting, Dr. Mishra also highlighted SECL’s adoption of modern dispatch technology through First-Mile-Connectivity (FMC) projects, which aim to mechanize the coal handling process from pitheads to rail sidings for faster and more sustainable coal movement. In response, Ms. Ittyerah assured full support from SECR in providing rake availability and accelerating the development of rail dispatch infrastructure projects.

Ensures 164.84 MT Coal Dispatch to Power Sector, growth of 5.11%

The Ministry of Coal is actively working towards enhancing coal production and supply efficient transportation of coal to all the stakeholders.

The overall coal stock position i.e., at Mines, TPPs and transit, as on 13th June 2023, reached 110.58 Million Tonne (MT), indicating a substantial increase of 44.22% as compared to the stock of 76.67 MT last year. This higher coal stock position indicates commitment of maintaining an ample supply of coal by the Ministry of Coal.

Additionally, the Pithead coal stock at Coal India Limited (CIL) as on 13 th of this month stands at 59.73 MT, indicating a growth rate of 25.77% as compared to the stock of 47.49 MT on 13.06.2022. This upward trend highlights effective stock management strategies and operational efficiency.
