Shri Nripendra Nath has assumed charge as Director (Technical) of CMPDI, bringing extensive experience from his diverse roles in the coal industry. An IIT (ISM), Dhanbad graduate of 1988, he has contributed significantly to projects like the World Bank-aided KDH Project and held key positions including Project Officer and Area General Manager at various mines of ECL and CCL, notably helping Magadh-Sanghmitra Area join the 20 Mte production club. A SIMTARS-accredited trainer with international exposure, he has been actively involved in mine safety initiatives and formulation of Safety Management Plans, leveraging his global experience to promote best practices in India’s mining sector. His expertise is expected to greatly benefit CMPDI and CIL in advancing safe and efficient mining operations.

RITES Ltd signs MoU with CMPDI to tap into Mining and Renewable infra development

Railway PSU and a transport infrastructure consultant, RITES Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), to establish a strategic framework for collaboration.

The Partnership has been subject to identifying, exploring and jointly pursuing prospective projects and consultancy assignments, both in India and internationally and particularly in the fields of mining, renewable energy and related infrastructure development.The officials of RITES Ltd and CMPDI were present in the MoU-signing ceremony in Ranchi.

Minister of State for Coal and Mines reviewed CMPDI.

The Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, chaired a meeting to review the performance of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDI) today at Ranchi. The review meeting was attended by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), CMPDI, Shri Shankar Nagachari, Director (Tech./CRD); Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (Tech./P&D/RD&T), GM/HoDs and other Sr.officials of CMPDI.

During the review, CMPDI’s performance in various areas of operation like Exploration, Report Preparation, Capex, R& D projects, Solar Projects, CSR initiatives during 2024-25 was presented, along with targets for 2025-26.

The Hon’ble Minister appreciated CMPDI’s performance and emphasized the importance of introducing new technologies in coal washing, exploration of critical minerals and increasing the use of solar energy in Coal India Limited (CIL).
