NHPC honoured with SHRM Award for excellence in HR functions

NEW DELHI. Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, congratulated the HR Team for securing two SHRM Awards (in the PSE category) at the SHRM India Annual Conference (SHRM IAC25) held in New Delhi. NHPC received the 1st Runner-Up Award 2025 for “Excellence in Inclusion & Diversity” and the 1st Runner-Up Award 2025 for “Excellence in Managing Distributed Workforce.” The awards were received at the conference by Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), Shri N.K. Jain, Executive Director (HR) and team of NHPC officers. The same were, later presented to CMD, NHPC by Director (Personnel), NHPC and his team. CMD, NHPC appreciated efforts of the team and lauded the recognition earned for the organization.

Award in Excellence in Managing Distributed Workforce acknowledged NHPC’s continued efforts for grooming and nurturing its employees in challenging working conditions at remotest locations of the country including international Borders, places with Freezing climatic conditions and disruption filled areas as well.

Award for Excellence in Inclusion & Diversity reaffirmed NHPC’s commitment for stakeholders-centric advent, transformative Diversity & Inclusion initiatives across levels, including employees’ families as well, and also in recognition of the untiring and dedicated efforts of NHPC employees who hail from diversified backgrounds but are united to serve the country with pride and honour.

During the visit, he carried out a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction works and provided valuable suggestions to enhance the pace and efficiency of execution. Shri Gupta appreciated the dedication and teamwork of project staffs and encouraged them to maintain their efforts towards achieving the milestones on time.

Sanjay Kumar Singh Gets Additional Charge as CMD of NHPC

NEW DELHI. The Government of India has entrusted Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, currently serving as Director (Projects) at NHPC Limited, with the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) for one month or until a full-time appointment is made, whichever is earlier, according to a regulatory filing to SEBI on September 1.

A civil engineering graduate with over 33 years of experience in the power and infrastructure sector, Singh has been instrumental in the execution of several prestigious projects in India and Bhutan. Since joining NHPC in July 2024 from SJVN Ltd., where he was Chief General Manager, Singh has overseen the commissioning of the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydroelectric Project and advanced the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower HEP to the brink of commissioning, while also driving significant progress in other projects.

NEW DELHI. The National Power Training Institute (NPTI) bid farewell to Shri R. P. Goyal, CMD of NHPC and Director (Finance) of NPTI, on his superannuation, in a ceremony hosted by Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI, and attended by officers and employees who expressed their gratitude for his contributions. With over 36 years of service at NHPC, Shri Goyal, a member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and a Master’s in Commerce from the University of Rajasthan, played a key role in driving financial and operational excellence at NHPC and its subsidiaries. Since assuming charge of NPTI as Director (Finance) in 2021, his leadership, professionalism, and vision have significantly strengthened the organization, leaving a lasting legacy in the power sector.

Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) set up at NHPC

In his address, CMD, NHPC stressed that development and sustainability, growth and responsibility must be balanced and said that achieving net zero is not just about reducing emissions but also reimagining our energy systems, industries, cities and lifestyles for a greener tomorrow. He also said that implementation of hydro projects and pumped storage projects are proven source of increase of forest cover in the form of Catchment Area Treatment and Compensatory Afforestation and therefore help in decarbonization of the carbon capture.
