Civil Aviation Ministry Completes First Phase Of Char Dham Helicopter Operations

NEW DELHI. The first phase of helicopter operations for the Char Dham Yatra has concluded. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that during this period, around 400 helicopter movements were conducted daily.

The Ministry added that over 12,000 shuttle departures facilitated the travel of more than 67,000 pilgrims. It also informed that over 2,000 charter operations served more than 11,000 pilgrims, providing safe, reliable and efficient connectivity across the Char Dham sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has accorded special priority to ensuring that every devotee undertaking the Char Dham Yatra can travel with greater ease, convenience and safety.(AIR)

Varanasi Becomes First City Under Easy Connect Model For International Travel: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu

NEW DELHI. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has announced that Varanasi now enables international travellers to complete immigration and baggage formalities before reaching Delhi and connect seamlessly onwards to destinations across the world.

In a social media post, the Minister said that India’s hub-and-spoke aviation vision begins with Varanasi. He informed that Varanasi is the first city to be integrated into the Easy Connect flights model. He also defined this as a significant step towards making India a global aviation hub, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking world-class connectivity beyond the metros.

Civil Aviation Ministry Sets Up 24×7 Passenger Assistance Control Room

NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has established a 24×7 Passenger Assistance Control Room (PACR) to address passenger grievances and operational issues in real time. The control room brings together officials from the Ministry, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airlines and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to ensure coordinated and prompt responses. The PACR continuously monitors flight operations, handles passenger calls and facilitates immediate assistance during disruptions.

The facility became operational on December 10 following recent operational issues faced by IndiGo. It also aims to support passengers during flight delays and disruptions caused by fog and other adverse conditions. The initiative is expected to improve passenger experience and strengthen coordination among aviation stakeholders.

Civil Aviation Ministry Highlights UDAN’s Role In Making Air Travel Affordable And Accessible

Ministry of Civil Aviation today said that the Regional Connectivity Scheme -Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) has facilitated over 1.56 crore passengers through 3.23 lakh flights in nine years. UDAN scheme was launched on 21st October 2016 under the National Civil Aviation Policy. Under the scheme, 649 routes have been operationalized connecting 93 unserved and underserved airports, including 15 heliports and 2 water aerodromes.

Addressing an event in New Delhi organised to mark the 9th anniversary of the scheme, Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha highlighted that UDAN has been a transformational initiative aimed at making air travel affordable and accessible to the common citizen. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue the scheme beyond April 2027 through an Expanded UDAN Framework, focusing on connectivity with hilly, North-Eastern, and aspirational regions, and the development of around 120 new destinations. The Ministry said that the Government has disbursed more than four thousand and 300 crore rupees as Viability Gap Funding to support airline operators and regional infrastructure. Besides, four thousand and 638 crore rupees were also invested in airport development under the scheme.

The Ministry added that the government has also introduced Comprehensive Guidelines for Seaplane Operations last year and launched the UDAN 5.5, a special bidding round for seaplanes and helicopters. Under this round, Letters of Intent have been issued for 150 routes connecting 30 water aerodromes across various coastal and island regions. The Ministry said, UDAN is not just a scheme, it is a catalyst for change and a testament to India’s commitment to making air travel inclusive, sustainable and an integral part of our development journey. One crore 49 lakh passengers benefited from affordable regional air travel scheme UDAN

The Government has said, more than one crore 49 lakh passengers have benefited from the affordable regional air travel scheme, UDAN. The scheme was launched in October 2016 to provide connectivity to unserved and underserved regions through revival of existing air strips and airports. The Civil Aviation Ministry has said that 625 UDAN routes have been operationalised, connecting 90 airports across the country. It said, India’s airport network expanded to more than double in a decade from 74 airports in 2014 to 159 airports in 2024.

Digi Yatra App user registration crosses 1 million mark .

The Civil Aviation Ministry said that the number of passengers who have installed the Digi Yatra app on their mobile phones has touched 1.746 million people since its launch on December 1, 2022. The Digi Yatra was initially launched at three airports, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Varanasi in December 2022, which was followed by Vijayawada, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Pune in April 2023.

Digi Yatra was launched to provide a hassle-free travel experience for passengers at airports. Passengers can skip the long security queues if they have shared their details with the app.

The ministry said that 866,000 Android users, while 154,000 iOS users downloaded and used the app since its launch.
