<p>Taking to micro-blogging platform Twitter on Tuesday morning, ISRO updated that though the lander was located but no communication with it has been made yet. &#8220;Vikram Lander has been located by the orbiter of #Chandrayaan2, but no communication with it yet. All possible efforts are being made to establish communication with lander,&#8221; tweeted ISRO.</p>

The battery of Vikram Lander, which is carrying the Pragyan Rover,  has an expected life of 14 days, so ISRO has another 12 days to establish communication with the craft. “We have found the location of Vikram Lander on lunar surface and orbiter has clicked a thermal image of Lander. But there is no communication yet. We are trying to have contact. It will be communicated soon,” Sivan had said on Sunday.</div>

<p>Vikram Lander was just 2.1 kilometres above the lunar surface when it lost contact with ISRO, throwing a pall of gloom over the Indian space agency, but Sunday&#8217;s development has rekindled hopes.</p>
<p>ISRO had released a statement on Saturday, a few hours after Vikram lander lost contact, stating that the Orbiter would continue with its mission. The perfect launch of Chandrayaan-2 and the technological capabilities developed by ISRO also ensured that the Orbiter&#8217;s life was now seven years and not just one year.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has constituted a multidisciplinary expert committee to study the technical glitch in the GSLV-MK III rocket that was to carry India&#8217;s moon mission spacecraft Chandrayaan-2.</p>
<p>&#8220;A committee with experts from multi-disciplines has been constituted. The committee will soon submit its report,&#8221; the official said.</p>

<p>The ISRO officials to heaved a sigh of relief that the technical glitch was detected ahead of the rocket&#8217;s launch by saving the Rs 978 crore worth rocket and the spacecraft Chandrayaan-2.</p>
<p>To date, India has flown 16 GSLV rockets (MK I, II and III) and the total number of successful and failed missions are 12 and four respectively.</p>
<p>Last minute mission postponement has taken place in the past involving GSLV rockets.</p>
<p>For instance, the GSLV-D5 that successfully launched GSAT-14 in January 2014 gave tension to ISRO officials.</p>
<p>Originally it was scheduled for launch on August 19, 2013. Just hours before the blast off, fuel started leaking from its second stage or engine.</p>
<p>An ISRO official then had said that the second stage was replaced with a new one built with a different metal. He then added that some critical components in the four strap-on motors of the first stage were also replaced as a matter of precaution.</p>
<p>Similarly, the 2007 flight of GSLV rocket gave anxious moments to ISRO officials. Fifteen seconds before the lift-off, the rocket&#8217;s computers put GSLV on hold detecting anomalies in the cryogenic fuel stage.</p>
<p>The launch was postponed by two hours to set right the problem even as ISRO officials were considering rescheduling the launch by another two days.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>India&#8217;s second mission to Moon, Chandrayaan-2 onboard GSLVMkIII-M1 was called off due to a technical snag on Monday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.</p>
<p>&#8220;A technical snag was observed in launch vehicle system at T-56 minute. As a measure of abundant precaution, #Chandrayaan2 launch has been called off for today. Revised launch date will be announced later,&#8221; the ISRO tweeted.</p>
<p>The lift-off of the three-component spacecraft weighing 3,850 kg and comprising an orbiter, the lander and the rover was scheduled for 2.51 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) here.</p>
<p>In a first for India, ISRO will deposit a lander and rover on the surface of the Moon on 6 September 2019. The orbiter-lander-rover composite is expected to make a soft-landing on a previously unexplored region just 650 kilometres from the lunar South Pole.</p>
<p>This will be the first time any mission touched down so far away from the equator.</p>
<p>One of the primary objectives is to demonstrate the ability to soft-land on the lunar surface. Among the mission&#8217;s other scientific objectives are experiments to map the Moon&#8217;s surface, its mineral and element content, moonquakes and signatures of water-ice on the lunar surface</p>
<p><strong>The mission </strong>is designed to hunt for deposits of Helium-3 — a waste-free nuclear energy that could answer many of Earth&#8217;s energy problems.</p>
<p>The isotope of Helium, which is abundant on the moon, could theoretically meet global energy demands for three to five centurie.</p>
<p>A <i><a href="https://www.deccanchronicle.com/science/science/280618/chandrayaan-2-india-to-hunt-for-priceless-helium-3.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Deccan Chronicle</strong></a> </i>report said. This kind of energy is also expected to be worth trillions of dollars . There are approximately 1 million metric tons of Helium-3 embedded in the moon, the report said, although only about a quarter of that can realistically be brought to Earth.</p>
<p>The countries which have the capacity to bring that source from the moon to Earth will dictate the process. We don’t want to be just a part of them, we want to lead them,&#8221; ISRO chairman K Sivan said.</p>
