Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.32%.

Sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs continue the trend of less than 50,000 Daily New Cases that is being reported for 149 consecutive days now.

7,579 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

The Active Caseload presentlystands at 1,13,584. Active cases presently constitute 0.33% of the country’s total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of

9,64,980tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 63.34 Cr (63,34,89,239) cumulative tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.93% remains less than 2% for the last 60 days now. The Daily Positivity rate reported to be 0.79%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below2% for last 50 days and below 3% for 85 consecutive days now.

As more people are getting recovered from COVID-19 infection, India’s Daily Recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for 37 consecutive days now. 97,743 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Nearly 37 thousand (36,990) more recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours as compared to the daily new cases.

Out of the people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,86,78,390 people have already recovered from COVID-19 & 97,743 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 96.16%, which is showing a sustained increasing trend.

With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 19,02,009tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 38.92crore (38,92,07,637) tests so far.

While on one side testing has been enhanced across the country, a continued decline in weekly case positivity is noticed. Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 3.58% while the Daily Positivity rate stands at 2.98% today. It has remained less than 5% for 12 consecutive days now.

Active Caseload declines below 9 Lakh

India continues to report a sustained slide in the daily new COVID cases. The country has reported 62,224 Daily New Cases in the last 24 hours. Less than 1 lakh Daily New Caseshave been reported for 9 continuous days now. This is a result of sustained and collaborative efforts by the Centre and the States/UTs.

India has also been witnessing a continuous fall in the active caseload. The country’s Active Caseload today stands at 8,65,432. The Caseload has declined below 9 lakh mark after 70 days.

A net decline of 47,946is witnessed in the last 24 hours and active cases are now only 2.92% of the country’s total Positive Cases.

As more people are getting recovered from COVID-19 infection, India’s Daily Recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for 34 consecutive days now. 1,07,628recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Over 45 thousand (45,404) more recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours as compared to the daily new cases.

Out of the people infected since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,83,88,100people have already recovered from COVID-19 &1,07,628 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours. This constitutes an overall recovery rate of 95.80%, which is showing a sustained increasing trend.

With substantially ramped up testing capacity across the country, a total of 19,30,987tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country. Cumulatively, India has conducted over 38.33crore (38,33,06,971) tests so far.

India’s Daily Recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 16th consecutive day. 2,84,601 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

After reaching a high of 95,735 on 10^th September 2020, they have dropped to 8,635 today, lowest in 8 months.

India’s average daily new cases also show a clear downward slip in the last 5 weeks. While it was 18,934 in the 30 Dec 2020 – 5 Jan 2021 period, the average daily new cases have reduced to 12,772 in the 27 Jan – 2 Feb 2021 timeline.

In another significant development, the country has reported less than 100 daily deaths in the last 24 hours, lowest in eight and half months. 100 deaths were recorded last on 15th May, 2020.

The average daily deaths in the last 5 weeks also show a similar downward slide. The average daily deaths in the 27 Jan – 2 Feb 2021 phase is 128, in contrast to 242 average daily deaths recorded in the 30 Dec 2020 – 5 Jan 2021 period.

The country’s active caseload has also shrunk further to 1.63 lakh (1,63,353) today.The present active caseload now consists of just 1.52% of India’s Total Positive Cases.

India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1.04cr (1,04,48,406) today. The Recovery Rate is 97.05%.

As on 2^nd February, 2021, till 8 AM, total of 39.50 lakh (39,50,156) beneficiaries have received the vaccination under the countrywide COVID19 vaccination exercise.

Daily new caseload dropped below 19,000 after 6 months. 18,732 were added to the national tally in the last 24 hours. The new added cases were 18,653 on 1^st July, 2020.

India’s total Active Caseload has fallen to 2.78 lakh (2,78,690) today. This is the lowest after 170 days. The total active cases were 2,76,682 on 10^th July, 2020.

The country has reported a trend of sustained decrease in the number of active cases. India’s present active caseload consists of just 2.74% of India’s Total Positive Cases.

21,430 cases recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours. This has led to a net decline of 2,977 from the total active caseload.

The total recovered cases stand at 97,61,538. The gap between Recovered Cases and Active Cases, that is steadily increasing, is nearing 95 lakhs and presently stands at 94,82,848.

Briefing about the latest developments in plans and preparations for vaccination, the Health Secretary  RAJESH  BHUSHAN informed, all of the 36 states and UTs have concluded meetings of State Steering Committee as well as State Task Force. 633 districts have already concluded meetings of District Task Force.  Further, 23 Union Ministries and Departments under the Centre & States have been identified and assigned roles with respect to planning, implementation, social mobilization, awareness generation etc., for the vaccine-roll out.

The Health Secretary informed that detailed instructions on Infection Prevention and Control Practices during vaccination have been issued in order to remain prepared to handle Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) that may crop up post- vaccination. For this, states have been told to identify at least one AEFI Management Centre in each block. It can be a Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre, District Hospital, private health facilities or any other fixed health facility with medical officers and para-medical staff. AEFI reporting will be done through Co-WIN. Every session sites will be linked to designated AEFI Management Centres, stated the Health Secretary.

The Health Secretary further informed:

• Training modules for medical officers, vaccinator officers/alternative vaccinator officers, cold chain handlers, supervisors, data managers, ASHA coordinators etc.  have been finalized.
• Physical trainings as well as trainings on virtual/online platforms have started.
• National and State Training of Trainers (ToTs) workshops have been completed.
• Guidelines have been issued for estimation of electrical and non-electrical cold chain equipment and their strengthening.
• Guidelines have been issued for management of cold chain at last cold chain points and session sites.
