During an interaction with students at Birla Open Minds School in Indore, Mr. Nirvaan Birla, Managing Director of Birla Open Minds, reflected on the realities of growing up in a rapidly changing world. He spoke about the pressures many young people face while trying to balance ambitions with expectations, make sense of countless opportunities and plan for a future that often feels uncertain.

Quoting a memorable line from Kung Fu Panda, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present,” he encouraged students to remain focused on the present instead of becoming overwhelmed by what lies ahead. His words resonated deeply with the students, many of whom actively engaged in conversations around mental wellbeing, stress, career uncertainty, societal expectations and personal aspirations, highlighting the importance of creating more opportunities for such meaningful discussions within educational spaces.

Mr. Nirvaan Birla also encouraged students to embrace curiosity, explore different interests and allow themselves the freedom to grow and evolve over time. He reminded them that careers do not need to be defined at an early age and that growth often comes through experiences, learning and remaining open to possibilities that may emerge along the way.

As education continues to transform, preparing students for the future is no longer only about academic achievement or career readiness. The programme was graced by noted academician, science activist and author Tapan Kumar Sarma as the Chief Guest. A former Vice Principal and Associate Professor of Physics at North Gauhati College, Sarma has made significant contributions towards the popularisation of science through the People’s Science Movement and has authored several acclaimed works on science, history and the Assamese diaspora.

The event was designed to provide students and parents with comprehensive information on higher education opportunities, career-oriented learning, student development initiatives, placement support, international exposure programmes and the wide range of scholarship opportunities available at Lovely Professional University.
