NEW DELHI. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna CPSE, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES), a Navratna CPSE, to strengthen logistics and operational efficiency across SAIL’s plants and mines. SAIL operates a dedicated mini rail network within its premises to facilitate seamless movement of raw materials, in-process transfers and finished products, making effective maintenance of its diesel locomotive fleet—along with wet-leased locomotives—crucial for uninterrupted operations and future capacity expansion. As Indian Railways transitions towards electric locomotives, RITES continues to offer specialized expertise in diesel locomotive operations and maintenance, supported by access to Indian Railways’ facilities, spares and skilled manpower, positioning it well to meet SAIL’s operational needs. This collaboration will enable both organizations to focus on their core strengths, optimize costs, enhance operational efficiency and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint. The MoU was signed by Shri P.K. Baisakhiya, Executive Director (Operations), SAIL, and Shri Sandeep Jain, Executive Director (Technical Services), RITES, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited Achieves Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certification for Six Office Buildings

New Delhi, 15th January,2026: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a leading power utility supplying electricity to a populace of around 9 million in North Delhi, has obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certification under the LEED v4.1 EBOM (Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) Rating System for six additional existing office buildings, including the Learning & Development Centre (CENPEID), Rani Bagh Protection Office and four key district offices. These buildings have fulfilled the requirements of the LEED Green Building Rating System, established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by Green Business Certification Inc.

LEED Platinum is the highest rating awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council & Green Business Certification Inc. (USGBC/GBCL) and recognizes excellence in energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable practices, and indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design.

With this, Tata Power-DDL’s 10 existing buildings have received LEED Platinum Certification so far. This milestone adds to Tata Power-DDL’s earlier success in 2022, when four major offices, including the Corporate office, received the same recognition.

The certification was granted after a rigorous evaluation of Tata Power-DDL’s green building practices, which include energy-efficient LED lighting and HVAC systems, optimized use of natural resources and water conservation measures, and enhanced indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort. The operations and maintenance of these offices of the discom were evaluated on key sustainability metrics such as energy savings, water conservation, and carbon footprint, and were found to be in compliance with global standards.
