Bangalore, July 02, 2026: Canadian International School (CIS), Bangalore, has officially announced that it will host the country’s first-ever IronKids Triathlon on August 09, 2026, as part of the globally celebrated IRONMAN® legacy and India’s first triathlon experience designed exclusively for young athletes, ushering in a new era for youth fitness and multisport competition in the region.

Designed to foster a love for physical fitness, resilience, and healthy competition, the triathlon is open to children between the ages of 6 and 16. It will be a non-competitive event with Triathlon, aquathlon and run only segments. For young athletes looking for a classic multi-sport experience, the triathlon combines swimming, cycling, and running into one continuous event. It’s a wonderful way to build endurance and transition skills.

To ensure that the event is inclusive yet appropriately challenging for all growth stages, the triathlon features three distinct age-appropriate categories spanning swimming, cycling, and running. This progressive structure allows children to build confidence and endurance in an inspiring environment where sport and community come together.

Canadian International School will support all the infrastructure necessary for both pre-event activities and race-day experiences.  The event will take place entirely within and around the state-of-the-art campus of Canadian International School in Yelahanka, Bangalore. CIS is equipped with a short-course swimming pool, secure cycling routes, and dedicated running tracks, ensuring the highest standards of safety, medical supervision, and race tracking for every participant.

Make-A-Wish India works to grant the heartfelt wishes of children with critical illnesses, providing experiences that uplift their spirits and positively support their treatment and recovery. The funds raised by CIS students will enable wishes for over 150 children, whether meeting a hero, experiencing a dream, or simply receiving something they have long hoped for.

For the students who led these campaigns, the experience was as much a lesson in empathy as it was in action. “I had participated in crowdfunding last year and felt very grateful and proud to make a difference, so I decided to do it again,” said Navika, a Grade 7 student. Her campaigning partner Avani, also from Grade 7, reflected, “I felt amazing realising how many people I helped and what an impact I made. I learnt to always be kind and help those in need.”

“The crowdfunding process is indirect initially, but it does fire up the emotional sympathy of students. Once they immerse themselves and actively campaign, the process tends to create a stronger empathy mindset. This is important. Mahati was named Best Artist (Under 18) and also took home Best Pop Song (Under 18) for Mistress of Clockwork, an original composition and performance with fellow young artist Disha Reddy. The recognition celebrates her ability to create original work while performing at a professional standard, an impressive feat for a teenager balancing school and creative pursuits.

Her journey with music began when she was three years old, studying singing, songwriting, violin, and piano at SaPa (Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts). Over the years, music has become an integral part of her life, and she has continued to nurture this passion alongside her academics. Now in her third year at CIS, Mahati has worked to balance the demands of the IGCSE curriculum with her love for music and theatre.

Reflecting on the recognition, Mahati said:“I’m glad to be in a school where I can try and balance high school studies with things that I love, like music and theatre. CIS is a very fun place to be, and I really like the campus, the faculty, my friends and all the co-curriculars.”

Her mother, Bindu, added:“Mahati has always been a creative child, and has been on stage since the age of three. Winning these awards means a lot because it recognises the efforts she has been putting in. I’m grateful that she’s at CIS because there is an opportunity for her to explore different areas of interest while still pursuing IGCSE and a full high school load. The school and faculty have been extremely supportive, helping her catch up where needed, and allowing her to travel and perform. CIS is a great home for her.”

Mahati’s recognition at the Clef Music Awards underscores the rise of young independent artists in India who are pursuing original work and gaining visibility in national forums. Bangalore, India – May 25, 2025 – The Canadian International School (CIS), Bangalore celebrated a landmark occasion, as it hosted the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of CIS offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)—the first school in Bangalore to do so. This silver jubilee year marks a proud chapter in CIS’s legacy as a pioneer in international education in India.

Under the heartfelt theme “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” the event honored the journey, achievements, and aspirations of 79 graduating students, each of whom has left a lasting mark on the school community.

A standout moment of the ceremony was the Valedictorian Award being jointly presented to identical twin sisters, a first in CIS history. Their shared speech celebrated the strength of sibling bonds and the importance of collaboration, earning a standing ovation from attendees.

This year’s graduating cohort earned a collective $3 million USD in merit-based scholarships, a reflection of both academic excellence and the strong support systems at CIS. Students received offers from prestigious universities around the world, demonstrating the school’s global outlook and commitment to preparing students for success on every continent.

In the United States, students gained admission to elite institutions including Brown University, University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins University, and many others. In the UK, CIS students have gained entry into top-tier institutions including King’s College London, University of Warwick, Loughborough University, and University of Manchester. Apart from in-school sessions like the one at CIS, SAIBSA connects IB educators virtually too from other regions. The SAIBSA Job Alike Session at CIS was a wonderful knowledge sharing platform where the 26 facilitators from the attending IB schools led sessions on how to structure unit plans, share best practices and collaborate to find new ways to enrich student learning experiences.

The day started with an opening ceremony where dignitaries participated in lighting the lamp. Following this, there were short speeches by Canadian International School’s senior education team as well as the SAIBSA president where they touched upon SAIBSA, learning, well-being and how the day was planned to nurture, challenge and empower all present. The teachers then dispersed into subject-wise sessions.

Mr. Jay Langkamp, High School Principal, CIS commented on the event saying, “At CIS, we strive to create opportunities for our students to become socially responsible and dedicated voices for positive change. We were happy to be able to host this event, which brought so many teachers to our campus to exchange ideas and work together. I am hopeful that the collaborative work will impact the lives of young people who we all serve.”

Ideas don’t have a name and place to them. They are there for sharing. And it is this aspect of crosspollination of ideas that we are seeing here at Canadian International School.”

SAIBSA is a great platform for new IB teachers to build their knowledge of the curriculum, teaching methods and to interact with veterans in the field. Together, teachers collaborate to get exposure to technology, resources and curriculum in IB.

Ms. Roopa Simon, teacher at CIS, commented, “It was really wonderful meeting so many people from across India and many Bangalore schools. I think when teachers work together and share ideas, resources, challenges and ways to overcome these, it’s the best way for us to motivate ourselves and feel good about what we’re doing. Overall, the feedback from attending teachers was overwhelmingly positive. They shared how the event offered them insights into leveraging AI in learning, strategies for unit planning, the benefits of horizontal interdepartmental coordination for well-rounded student learning among other poignant topics.
