Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced that eligibility criteria of scoring minimum 75% in Class 12th has been relaxed for taking admission in IITs this year. He further informed that JEE (Advanced) – 2021 will be held as a computer based test on 3rd July 2021. This year JEE (Advanced) will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur.

You have enough time to prepare for the JEE Advanced 2021. Since Covid-19 crisis is not yet over, we have also kept aside the 75% score criteria in 2021,” said the education minister.

In the previous years, students were required to score either minimum 75% in class 12 or be among the top 20 percentile in their board exams, in addition to qualifying the IIT Advanced exam, to secure admission in any of the 23 IITs.

The education ministry has also decided to allow the qualifying candidates of JEE Main 2020 who were unable to appear for the second stage of the examination due to the Covid-19 pandemic to directly appear for JEE Advanced 2021.

In 2020, JEE Advanced was held on September 27 after being rescheduled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, the government had announced that Joint Entrance Exam (Main) will be conducted in four sessions in February, March, April and May starting from February 23 to 26, 2021. The next sessions of the exam will be held between March 15-18, April 27-30 and May 24-28.

“We have examined the suggestions received from students and various quarters and it has been decided that JEE-Mains will be held in four sessions in February, March, April and May,” Nishank had said.

“The move will ensure that students don’t miss out on opportunities due to clash of exams or due to the Covid-19 situation at present,” he added.

The dates of CBSE Board examinations- 2021

Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ today announced the dates of commencement of CBSE Board examinations. Shri Pokhriyal said that Class 10^th and 12^th Board Examinations will be held from 4^th May 2021 to 10^th June, 2021 and results of Class 10^th and 12^th Board Examinations will be declared by 15^th July, 2021. He further informed that Practical exams of Class 12^thwill start from 1^st March, 2021.

Shri Pokhriyal said that students, teachers and schools are facing an unprecedented and uncertain situation due to the Covid-19 epidemic but teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure that students do not face any difficulty in their studies. He appreciated the teachers for working hard and for adopting new techniques and methods of teaching. He highlighted that Government has also taken various steps to provide a platform and content for learning through digital medium.

Shri Pokhriyal said that the decision on the dates have been taken after considering the suggestions given by students, teachers and parents.

The Minister extended his greetings on New Year’s Eve and wished students great success in board exams as well as in life ahead.
