Even though there is ample support for innovations to become ventures at School and Higher Education levels, minimal support exists for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, that includes more than 13 lacs students enrolled in ITIs and NSTIs. Majority of the TVET graduates get absorbed in the industry, work as trainers or educators, or get into traditional self-employment trades.

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE, Government of India said, “At the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, we believe that every skilled individual carry within them the potential to become a job creator. Through this partnership with the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation, we are enabling NSTI students to channel their technical skills into innovation and enterprise. The Navonmesh Protsahan Spardha will empower our young innovators to transform ideas into sustainable ventures, strengthening India’s vision of becoming an Aatmanirbhar and innovation-driven nation.”

The innovation challenge has been launched under the title Navonmesh Protsahan Spardha: Kaushalta se Udyamita, with the objective to nurture skill-based innovation in NSTI students. Being a first of its kind innovation challenge, it will cater to 10,000+ NSTI students and will include mentoring, prizes, access to resources, and further incubation, for launching the ideas of students in the market. The focus of the program will be students with innovative ideas in IT/ITeS, Automotive, Apparel, Electronics & Hardware and Power, and Capital Goods & Manufacturing sectors. Pilani Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Society (PIEDS), the incubator of BITS Pilani, would be managing this program, and is being supported under the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives of the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation.

A distinguished academic and corporate leader, Dr. Mohapatra is a BITS Pilani alumnus, holds an MBA from XIM Bhubaneswar, and a Ph.D. in Management from Amity University. He has held several top leadership roles, including Director – HR at Indian Oil, Chairman of Lanka IOC PLC, and President of IFTDO, Geneva.

Currently, he serves as Founder & CEO of HridaySe Consulting and is an Independent Director at Mapmy India and OFB Tech.

As part of his engagement, Dr. Mohapatra will address BIMTECH students on “Leadership in Uncertain Times” on July 15, 2025. His appointment is seen as a key step in bridging industry and academia, offering students invaluable real-world insights.

Mumbai, 16th January 2024: Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA) in association with BITS Pilani announced its 10th edition of Infinity 2024, the ‘Ultimate Math Championship’. The three-day event took place on the 11^th, 12^th, and 13^th of January 2024 at NSCI, Worli, Mumbai. The phenomenal event inspired students to showcase their full mathematical prowess and unleash their creativity. The International School Bangalore and Aditya Birla World Academy have been named the winners of the ‘Infinity Champions of the Year’ category for Seniors and Advanced competition. The title of ‘Mathematician of the Year 2024’ has been conferred upon Arjun Narasimhan from The Sri Ram School, Moulsari, Gurgaon; Mohammed Jumael Uddin, DPS STS Dhaka and Suhaan Mobhani of Aditya Birla World Academy students from Advanced Category.  Sruti Das, The Future Foundation School, Kolkata; Taksh Gagan Kothari, Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, and Shresht Siddharth Bhat of Pathways School Noida from the Senior Category were also winners from the event. This annual event, organized in collaboration with BITS Pilani, has grown to become one of the most prestigious Inter-School Mathematics Competitions.

Infinity 2024 was open to students from Grades 9 to 12 from schools affiliated with any education board. The contest aided students in honing analytical and critical-thinking skills, valuable not only in mathematics and academics but also in various other fields. The finals of Infinity 2024 – The Ultimate Math Championship showcased unique competitions such as the World Mathematics Team Championship, the American Region Math League, and the Invitational Young Mathematicians Convention.

The competition features various rounds, including the Individual Round, Team Round, Pass back Round, Bulb Your Ideas, Mathematics Treasure Hunt, and Quiz. Each round was meticulously crafted by the Mathematics team at Aditya Birla World Academy in collaboration with professors from BITS Pilani. The competition was guided by renowned mathematicians, Dr. James Tanton and Dr. Mark Saul, ensuring the highest standards in problem-solving and mathematical exploration. The event concluded with the ABWA team expressing gratitude in a vote of thanks. Mrs. Radhika Sinha, Principal, of Aditya Birla World Academy, extended congratulations to the winners and participants at the grand finale. Trophies were presented to all the winners.
