Mr. Bhowmick bagged the coveted degree by virtue of his eminence and contributions to science and technology to bag an established position in the state. Notably, Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, a second-generation steel man, had started his career at RSP after completing his BTech in Metallurgy from the erstwhile Regional Engineering College, Rourkela, the now National Institute of Technology, Rourkela in 1988. He was the Director In-Charge of RSP from 11^th February 2022 to his date of retirement i.e 31^st December 2024. He held the additional charge of the DIC, Bokaro Steel Plant from June 2023 to April 2024.

Under his dynamic leadership, RSP made significant advancements in both operational excellence and sustainable initiatives, including important projects. He’s considered as one of the stalwarts of Blast Furnace Technology with nearly 3 decades of rich experience of Iron making.

Mr. Bhowmick has been recognized numerous times for his immense contributions to Science and Technology. He was conferred with the IIM-TSL New Millennium Award in 2022 and ‘Inspirational Corporate Leader’ in 2024.
