Notably, the RSP team exhibited an outstanding performance at the Inter Steel Plant Swimming Championship 2025, held in July at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. RSP secured total 16 points to become the Runners up. The team won 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals. The RSP team was led by Mr. Prasenjit Ray, DGM (RMHP), who served as the Coach-cum-Team Manager. Among the notable individual performances, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Barik from Roll Shop, won 2 silver medals in the 50 metre Freestyle and 50 metre Butterfly events, while Mr. Rudra Narayan Sahoo from Repair Shop (Electrical) bagged 2 Bronze medals in the 50m and 100m Backstroke categories. Mr. Suryasen Murmu of SMS-II secured a Silver in 100m Freestyle and Mr. Aditya Pujari son of Mr. Ajay Pujari of HSM-2 Department won a Bronze in the same event under the Employee Ward category. The highlight of the championship was RSP’s remarkable victory in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay, where the team of Aditya Pujari, Rudra Narayan Sahoo, Pradeep Barik, and Suryasen Murmu clinched the Gold medal with a timing of 02:38.04.

Free boarding facilities, monthly stipend, balanced diet, furnished accommodation, education and a gymnasium are some of the facilities provided by the SHA to the cadets. Free sports kits, free medical treatments at RSP hospital, assistance for education in local school/college, insurance coverage for the training period and travel fare for visiting parents/guardians once a year are some of the other facilities.

Besides, the cadets will also get an opportunity to play many important national level tournaments that will provide them the much needed exposure. The SAIL Hockey Academy team of RSP has carved a niche for itself not only in the national but also international hockey firmament. The stadium has also been accorded FIH Category 2 Hockey field certificate which makes it eligible to host category 2 National and International tournaments.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Ms. Asha Kartha, CGM (Safety & Fire Services), who presided over the opening ceremony and declared the tournament open. Also present on the occasion were Mr. J. B. Pattanayak, GM (Fire Services), along with other officers and employees of the department.

A total of seven teams, comprising team managers, coaches, and players, enthusiastically participated in the competition. After a spirited series of matches, the Prevention Section team emerged victorious, defeating the CCD Fire Station team with a straight-set win of 2-0 in the final.

The event was coordinated by Mr. S. Goswami, Deputy Manager (Fire Services) and Mr. D. D. Jena, Senior Leading Fire Operator.
