OIL and BPCL Sign JV Agreement for City Gas Distribution in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) at BPCL’s Corporate Office to form a Joint Venture Company (JVC) for establishing a City Gas Distribution network in Arunachal Pradesh. The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director, OIL, and Shri Sanjay Khanna, Director (Refineries) with Additional Charge of CMD, BPCL. This company will undertake the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Arunachal Pradesh, awarded to the OIL- BPCL consortium during the 12th CGD Bid Round conducted by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).

The JVC will set up CNG stations and provide PNG connections to domestic, commercial, and industrial users, supporting the Government’s gas-based economy vision. Dr. Rath highlighted OIL’s commitment to clean energy in the region, citing its hydrocarbon legacy and the Kumchai-Kusijan gas pipeline commissioning as key milestones in advancing India’s hydrocarbon vision for the North-East.

Shri Sanjay Khanna, CMD of BPCL, remarked: “This Joint Venture reaffirms BPCL’s commitment to expanding clean energy access across India, with special focus on the North-East. Together with OIL, we will build a strong City Gas Distribution network to serve households, industries, and transport. Arunachal Pradesh holds great potential, and through this initiative we aim to drive sustainable growth, improve quality of life, and support India’s vision of a gas-based economy”.

Oil Marketing Companies Report Significant Profit Growth in FY 2023- 24

The combined profit of Oil Marketing Companies for the financial year 2023-24 stood at 86 thousand crore rupees which is 25 times higher than the previous fiscal year.
According to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited reported a record net profit of over 16 thousand crore rupees as opposed to a loss of six thousand 980 crore rupees in the previous year. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited profit after tax in the last financial year came in 26 thousand 673 crore rupees which is nearly 13 times higher than the previous fiscal year. While, Indian Oil Corporation Limited capped an excellent year with sales volume and net profit. The Ministry said, OMC’s combined net profit in financial year 2023-24 up 543 percent in comparison to fiscal year 2013-14.

BPCL in talks with Kerala Govt to set up Rs 5200 Cr Project

Shri G Krishnakumar, CMD, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), called on Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister, Kerala, and had initial discussions for setting up a Poly Propylene Unit at BPCL Kochi Refinery at a cost of Rs 5,200 Crores (“Project”). BPCL’s proposal to set up a compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Brahmapuram, Kochi, with municipal solid and the progress on the same was also discussed.
