The Ministry of Defence has signed a significant ₹2,095 crore deal with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the procurement of INVAR Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs). These advanced missiles will enhance the combat capability of T-90 main battle tanks, boosting India’s deterrence and operational edge. The procurement is in line with the government’s focus on Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence manufacturing, leveraging domestic expertise and promoting indigenous defence production under the ‘Buy (Indian)’ category.

Key MoUs and Green Initiatives Mark New Milestone in Defence Manufacturing

The inauguration also witnessed the signing of key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) among DPSUs to enhance indigenisation and sustainability. HAL and BDL partnered with YIL to establish a 10,000-ton forging press facility, reducing import dependency. At the same time, another MoU with MIDHANI aims to set up a Metal Bank for uninterrupted raw material supply. Singh launched several initiatives, including the HAL R&D Manual, an integrated R&D roadmap, and SWAYAM, promoting green and sustainable defence manufacturing. India Optel Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited were lauded for achieving 100% renewable energy transition. Calling the Bhavan a “milestone in defence collaboration,” Singh reaffirmed India’s vision to become not only self-reliant but also a global hub for defence manufacturing under the guiding motto, “Sangachhadhwam Samvadadhwam”—Move together, dialogue together.

Shri. G. Gayatri Prasad assumed charge as Director (Finance) of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, with effect from 18 Dec 2024. Prior to the assumption of charge, he served BDL as General Manager (Finance) & CFO.

Shri. G. Gayatri Prasad is a Commerce Graduate from Nagarjuna University and an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He joined BDL in 1997 as a Management Trainee and in a career spanning over 27 years, served the company in various capacities with wide exposure in all aspects of Accounting and Financial Management, Taxation, Analyzing investment proposals for their viability, Working Capital Management, Budgeting and Costing.

D V Srinivas Rao assumes charge as Director (Technical) of Bharat Dynamics Limited

Shri D V Srinivas Rao has assumed charge as Director (Technical) of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a leading public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India on 20th Sep 2024.

Shri Srinivas Rao brings with him over three decades of extensive experience in the defence sector, having held key leadership roles at BDL. Prior to this prestigious appointment, he served as General Manager (Design & Engineering), where he led the in-house Research and Development (R&D) Division of BDL. During his career, Shri Srinivas Rao has played a pivotal role in spearheading numerous defence projects, many of which are now deployed and extensivelyused by the Indian Armed Forces.

He has closely collaborated with several Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) labs, contributing to the successful execution of numerous projects for BDL. He was also instrumental in establishing the state-of-the-art Electronics Division at BDL, which now produces critical sub-systems for various weapon systems used by India’s defence forces.
