DHANBAD. Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) recorded significant operational and financial recovery in Q2 FY 2026–27, driven by a targeted turnaround strategy led by CMD Shri Manoj Aggarwal. Strategic interventions focused on enhancing field-level monitoring, enforcing strict accountability, and curbing illegal mining, pilferage, and unauthorized transport through active coordination with district administrations and security forces. Improved evacuation systems and strict contractual enforcement boosted coal offtake by 9.62% year-on-year to 8.89 million tonnes during the quarter.

Resource productivity saw substantial gains through regular performance reviews, direct field inspections, and the strategic redeployment of underutilized departmental machinery and manpower. BCCL also reinforced heavy earth-moving machinery contract management, strengthened internal coal quality sampling, and resolved operational bottlenecks with state agencies. These operational reforms reduced raw coal stock from 9.17 million tonnes in March 2026 to 6.34 million tonnes in September 2026, while trade receivables dropped significantly by ₹757.80 crore to stand at ₹2,105.38 crore.

The company’s financial momentum was further highlighted by a turnaround in washery operations, which transformed a ₹2.12 crore loss from the corresponding quarter last year into a profit of ₹235.51 crore in Q2 FY27. Total coal feed to washeries expanded to 15.51 lakh tonnes, supported by a 69,000-tonne washed coal contribution from the New Bhojudih Washery in H1 FY27. Combined with revised notified coal prices, these measures have established a strong base for BCCL’s ongoing efficiency, financial discipline, and long-term sustainability.
