Acknowledging that India possesses the necessary market demand and volume for rapid expansion, Naidu revealed that the government is actively modifying the Air Freight Station framework after reviews showed the current system has not delivered its expected results, promising extensive stakeholder consultations to eliminate existing operational bottlenecks.

Indira Gandhi International Airport, operated by Delhi International Airport Limited, has won the ‘Best Airport of the Year’ award at Wings India 2026, presented by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. The four-day aviation event is organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and FICCI. InterGlobe Services Limited, the parent company of IndiGo Airlines, received the Best Aviation Service Provider award, while Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, was recognised as the Best Airport in the above 25 million passengers per annum category. Other award-winning airports included Pune in the 10–25 million passengers category, Lucknow in the 5–10 million category, Port Blair in the below 5 million category, and Holongi Airport in Itanagar under the UDAN scheme.

Nivedita Dubey Creates History as First Woman on AAI Board

Ms Nivedita Dubey has assumed charge as Member (Human Resources), the second-highest position in the Airports Authority of India (AAI), becoming the first woman officer to be inducted into the AAI Board. Her appointment marks a historic milestone in the Indian aviation sector and has been widely welcomed.

A native of Prayagraj, Dubey joined AAI in 1995 as a management trainee and has served in several key leadership roles. An alumna of Allahabad University and MONIRBA, she has been widely appreciated for her tenure as airport manager at Indira Gandhi International Airport and for successfully turning around loss-making airports during her term as Regional Executive Director of the Eastern Region.
