Bengaluru, India, 19^th December 2024 – Aster DM Healthcare has announced the fourth edition of the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award, inviting nurses worldwide to apply for the prestigious INR 2 Crore prize. The award recognizes exceptional contributions to healthcare, celebrating the dedication and impact of nurses across diverse areas of practice.

Registered nurses can submit their applications via www.asterguardians.com, showcasing their work in Patient Care, Nursing Leadership, Nursing Education, Social or Community Service, or Research Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Healthcare. Applicants may choose one Primary and up to two Secondary areas of contribution to highlight their multifaceted efforts.

The evaluation process will be meticulously overseen by an independent jury and supported by Ernst & Young LLP (EY). Following a thorough review, the Grand Jury, composed of global healthcare experts, will select the top 10 finalists. A Consultant at Philippine Army Health Services, Philippines, Nurse Maria spearheaded aeromedical evacuation system in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) which improved survival rates by enabling rapid evacuation and early treatment of casualties, especially in conflict areas. She has also pioneered environmental health initiatives, integrating vetiver grass technology to combat soil erosion and water pollution.

Bengaluru, December 14, 2024: Aster DM Healthcare, one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in India launched three noteworthy initiatives – Precision Oncology Clinics, the Aster Cancer Grid, and Onco Collect by the Dr. Ramesh Nimmegadda Cancer Foundation, marking a significant advancement in India’s cancer treatment landscape at the Aster Cancer Conclave 2024.  The conclave, attended by leading national & international oncologists, researchers, and industry experts, highlighted the latest advancements in cancer care and treatment. The theme, PRISM: Precision in Solid Malignancies, underscored the critical role of precision medicine in addressing cancer.

The newly launched initiatives aim to revolutionize cancer care by offering personalized, data-driven, and research-based treatments, emphasizing genomic approaches to improve patient outcomes. These programs represent a leap forward in ensuring accessible, cutting-edge cancer therapies while fostering collaborative research and streamlining patient data collection.

The Precision Oncology Clinics will focus on cancer care aligned with the genomic profile of the patient. Such treatment approaches are a departure from the commonly used treatment approaches in which cancer patients are treated uniformly based on the disease condition. Here the patient’s cancer therapy is customized, based upon the genomic mutations in the tumour using precise oncological approaches which in a way reduce the detrimental effects of treatment while enhancing efficiency.

The Aster Cancer Grid will enable collaborative research, and multi-center clinical trials and standardize cancer care. In addition, it will aggregate data from all Aster Hospitals. The Aster Cancer Grid will actively seek partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and research institutions to advance cancer research and development. The network’s collaboration with international research centres will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices on a global scale and lead the way for joint funding applications, grant opportunities and funded research initiatives in cancer.

The Onco Collect Software by Dr. Ramesh Nimmegadda Cancer Foundation was launched at all Aster Hospitals in Bangalore and promises to revolutionize oncology data management. It is a platform that standardizes practice management by placing all patient data in one location, creating a uniform database and providing outcome analysis thus ensuring evidence-based treatment by clinicians.

Upon hearing the news of the landslide on Tuesday morning, the doctors, nurses, and staff of Dr. Moopen’s Medical College immediately prepared for the emergency. Rescue workers swiftly began arriving with the injured at the emergency department in the hospital. To date, 173 people have been admitted, with 62 still under treatment. Seven individuals are in the intensive care unit, and 20 have undergone emergency surgery. The activities at Moopen’s Medical College are being coordinated in full cooperation with government agencies. Additional beds have been added to the wards, and more nurses have been appointed. Three forensic surgeons from Dr.  Moopen’s Medical College have been deputed at the request of the District Administration to expedite post-mortem procedures.

A group of Aster volunteers has been active in rescue operations since the first day of the disaster in Chooralmala and near Mundakkai, accompanied by a mobile medical unit. The team is distributing essential items, including clean drinking water and food, and is working alongside the National Disaster Response Force’s irreplaceable rescue operations.

Efforts are also underway to locate missing Aster employees and ensure their safe return home. Aster DM Healthcare is providing immediate support, medical facilities, and essential items to affected employees and their families, offering all possible assistance.

He also expressed gratitude to the state government for allowing Aster DM Healthcare to be part of the rescue operations and provide modern medical treatment to those affected during this challenging time.
