NEW DELHI. India has created a new Guinness World Record after securing 2,50,946 valid pledges for responsible artificial intelligence use within 24 hours during the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Announcing the achievement at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said the country earned the Guinness World Records title for the “Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours.” The record was officially verified by a Guinness World Records adjudicator during the summit held between February 16 and 17.

The nationwide AI Responsibility Pledge campaign was launched under the IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with Intel India to encourage citizens to commit to ethical, inclusive and responsible AI practices. Participants engaged with scenario-based questions on data privacy, transparency, accountability and tackling misinformation, and received digital badges along with AI learning resources upon completion. Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inspiring outreach to students and educational institutions, Vaishnaw said the overwhelming participation, far surpassing the initial target of 5,000 pledges, reflects growing awareness and positions India as a leader in promoting responsible AI for social good. Signed in the presence of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, the agreements aim to strengthen India’s maritime infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign shipping operators.

Addressing the event, Mr Vaishnaw said ₹10,000 crore has been allocated in the Union Budget 2026–27 for the manufacture of shipping containers to boost domestic logistics and container operations. He also highlighted Cabinet approval for a ₹65,000 crore ship construction programme to strengthen the shipbuilding ecosystem. Mr Sonowal said the MoUs would help build domestic capacity and make India more self-reliant in the shipping sector. He also presented Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Awards 2025 and Hindi Pakhwada Awards 2025 to organisations under the Ministry.

According to the MoU, Bharat Container Shipping Line is proposed to be formed for acquiring, owning, leasing, and operating container vessels, containers, and related logistics assets to support export-import (EXIM) and coastal trade. The collaboration seeks to provide comprehensive end-to-end logistics solutions by integrating port-based services with land and sea-based transportation, leveraging the combined expertise of all participating entities.

NEW DELHI. Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has clarified that there are no such guidelines mandating that meals served in trains must be Halal certified. There have been recent media reports stating that Railways has been served with notice by NHRC on a complaint that only Halal-processed meat is being used in non-vegetarian meals served on trains by Railways. Talking to media, Mr Vaishnaw said Railways never demand any Halal certificates.

In a statement, Indian Railways said that IRCTC serves Non-Vegetarian Food (Chicken) conforming to standards laid down in Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. It said Indian Railways follows the standards set by the Government. The catering licensees and vendors are required to comply with the standards prescribed under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. IRCTC also abides by all instructions and guidelines issued by Railways on this subject, along with ensuring full FSSAI compliance across all catering services.

In a major push to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem, the government has approved seven projects worth ₹5,532 crore under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). Announcing the decision, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said the move marks a significant step in India’s journey from assembling finished products to manufacturing core components, materials, and machinery domestically. The projects are expected to generate ₹36,559 crore worth of production and create over 5,100 direct jobs, with units distributed across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh to promote balanced regional growth.

The approved projects focus on manufacturing key components such as Multi-Layer and High-Density Interconnect (HDI) Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Camera Modules, Copper Clad Laminates (CCL), and Polypropylene Films — all of which are critical to the electronics value chain. These initiatives are expected to meet 20% of India’s domestic demand for PCBs and 15% for camera module sub-assemblies, while fully fulfilling the country’s requirement for Copper Clad Laminates. The ECMS has attracted strong interest, with 249 applications representing ₹1.15 lakh crore in proposed investments and the potential to generate over 1.42 lakh jobs.

According to the Ministry, the projects will reduce import dependence, lower product costs, and foster high-skill employment in manufacturing and R&D. They will also strengthen trusted supply chains for sectors such as defence, telecommunications, electric vehicles, and renewable energy. Forming a crucial link between the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the ECMS supports India’s broader vision of becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub. Vaishnaw said India is emerging as a “product nation,” capable of designing, manufacturing, and exporting complete electronic equipment, thereby driving innovation, scale, and self-reliance.

Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted an on-ground inspection at New Delhi Railway Station to review passenger facilities amid the ongoing festive rush. The Minister highlighted that over 12 lakh railway employees are working round the clock to ensure safe and timely travel. Between October 1 and 20, Indian Railways operated 4,211 special trains, serving more than one crore passengers, with another 7,800 special services planned to manage the Diwali and Chhath crowds.

Real-Time Monitoring and Passenger Convenience Measures

Vaishnaw visited key facilities including the RPF Control Room, First Aid Room, and interacted with passengers of the Patna-bound Amrit Bharat Express. He reviewed congestion management and dedicated holding areas for travelers. A central War Room at Rail Bhawan, along with similar setups across all zones, is monitoring passenger movement in real time to address congestion and emergencies swiftly. The Delhi area alone is handling an average of 4.25 lakh passengers daily, recording a significant rise from last year.

Enhanced Facilities and Inclusive Initiatives Across India

To improve the passenger experience, Indian Railways has strengthened amenities such as additional ticket counters, clean washrooms, potable water, and mobile ticketing via the M-UTS app. Initiatives like ‘Project Ayushman’ at Mysuru Station—introducing nursing rooms for mothers—and the all-women-operated Lucknow City Station showcase the Railways’ focus on inclusivity and service quality. Vaishnaw emphasized that these efforts reflect the Railways’ commitment to providing safe, efficient, and passenger-friendly travel during the festive season.

Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, will flag off seven new trains — three Amrit Bharat and four passenger services — from Bihar on Monday.

The inauguration ceremony will be held at Patna Junction, with Vaishnaw joining the event through video conferencing.

The Amrit Bharat Express, known for its popularity among the middle class and common passengers, currently operates 12 services nationwide, with 10 of them running from Bihar. With the launch of three additional trains, the total number will rise to 15, with 13 operating from the state.

The newly inaugurated Amrit Bharat Express trains will run on three routes: Muzaffarpur to Charlapalli near Hyderabad, Darbhanga to Madar Junction near Ajmer, and Chhapra to Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. The Muzaffarpur–Charlapalli service will be the first Amrit Bharat train connecting Muzaffarpur to South India, while the Chhapra–Anand Vihar route will become Bihar’s sixth Amrit Bharat link to Delhi.

These state-of-the-art indigenous trains are designed to provide passengers with a fast, safe, and comfortable travel experience. They are expected to strengthen Bihar’s connectivity with different regions of the country, particularly North and South India, and contribute to the state’s economic growth by promoting tourism, trade, and employment opportunities.

Developed by Indian Railways, the Amrit Bharat Express has emerged as a symbol of modernization in the national railway system. The trains come equipped with advanced features, including semi-automatic couplers, fire detection systems, sealed gangways, and talk-back units. For the first time, advanced technology has also been introduced in non-AC coaches to enhance passenger safety.

In addition to the Amrit Bharat Express services, Union Minister Vaishnaw and Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary will also flag off four passenger trains to meet the needs of local commuters. These services will operate on the Patna–Buxar, Jhajha–Danapur, Patna–Islampur, and Nawada–Patna via Sheikhpura–Barbigha routes.

The new Nawada–Patna passenger train will operate six days a week via Sheikhpura, Barbigha, Asthawan, Bihar Sharif, and other towns, fulfilling a long-standing demand of local residents. Similarly, the Patna–Islampur and Nawada–Patna trains will run through the newly developed Jatdumri–Fazalchak–Top Sarthua–Daniyawan line, providing crucial connectivity for nearby regions. PIB
