57^th Annual Horticulture Show-2025 organised by the Horticulture Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) was inaugurated by Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC) on 18^th January 2025 at Jubilee Park. Present on the occasion were Mrs. Namrata Verma, President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati, Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Mr. Ratan Kumar, DIG, CISF, Mrs. Prabhati Misra, and Mrs. Nabanita Palchowdhury, both Vice Presidents of Deepika Mahila Sanghati, Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-charge (TA & CSR), Mr. B K Jojo, GM In-charge (Town Engineering & Horticulture), Dr. Avijit Biswas, DGM (Horticulture) & In-Charge (ZDP) and other Senior Officials of RSP.

The DIC along with the other dignitaries went around the exhibition and took keen interest in the diverse range of flowers, fruits and plants on display. He applauded the efforts of the Horticulture Department for organizing the grand show for the last 57 years which has created a niche for itself in the region, becoming a much-anticipated annual event that showcases the best in horticulture and attracts enthusiasts from far and wide.

The Show witnessed 771 entries in various categories like cut flowers, pot plants, fruits, vegetables, bonsai, Dinner Bowl Arrangement, Best Arranged Flower, Button Hole,  Bouquet, Garland (Other than Roses) and Models made with flowers and foliage. Large number of visitors thronged the Jubilee Park applauding the myriad varieties of flowers, vegetables and fruits on display such as variety of roses, Chrysanthemum, Dahlia, Dianthus, Sweet Peas, Antirrhinum, Carnations, Calendula, Phlox, Pansy, Gerbera, Lupin, Marigold, Aster, Salvia, Gladioli, Candytuft and many more. Garden Layout competition is also included in the event.

A riveting cultural programme was presented by ‘Payal’ Dance Group on the occasion.

The two day exhibition would conclude with an award giving ceremony on the evening of 19^th January.

Competitions will be organised in Dinner Bowl Arrangement and Best Arranged Flower Vase that are open only for ladies.  There will be competitions which are open to all in sections like in presentation of Button Hole,  Bouquet, Garland (Other than Roses) and Models made with flowers and foliage.

Besides there will be competitions in Cut Flower, Specimen Bloom Roses of different colours and varieties, full open bloom any HT rose variety, 1 stem Indian Floribunda Rose, 3 stem 3 varieties of Floribunda Rose and 2 stem Miniature / Polyantha / different variety of roses.

Separate sections are devoted for different categories of Crysanthemum, Dahlia, Dianthus, Sweet Peas, Antirrhinum, Carnations, Calendula, Phlox, Pansy, Gerbera, Lupin, Marigold,  Aster, Salvia, Gladioli, Candituft (Spiral) and Single Stem / Spike of any other variety not mentioned under any of the above sections.

The potted plant categories are open for Chrysanthemum, foliage, flowering annual   Plants of 4 different varieties, flowering perennials, Dahlia, Rose, Gerbera, African / Inca Marigold and Bonsai.

For the gardening enthusiasts competitions are also there for vegetables and fruits. Entries will be accepted from 7.30 AM to 11.30 AM at Jubilee Park Premises on 18^th January, 2025. The show will be open for public view from 4 PM to 9.00 PM on 18^th January and from 8 AM to 9 PM on 19^th January, 2025. The prizes will be distributed on 19^th January, 2025 at Jubilee Park.

To promote gardening activities among the Employees and Institutions, the Horticulture Department has also organised a Garden Layout Competition for the Gardens in Steel Township in different categories. The winners in various categories of the competition will be presented awards in the valedictory function of Annual Horticulture Show on 19^th January, 2025.
