Indian Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) for the installation of Machine Vision Based Inspection System (MVIS) for monitoring the health of rolling stock.

MVIS is a modern, AI/ML-based technology solution deployed on wayside that captures high-resolution images of the under-gear of moving trains and automatically detects any hanging, loose, or missing components. On detecting anomalies, the system generates real-time alerts to facilitate prompt response and preventive action.

The MoU was formally signed by Shri Sumit Kumar, Director (Project & Development), Railway Board, and Shri Jawahar Lal, GGM (Mechanical), DFCCIL at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of Shri B. M. Agrawal, Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, and senior officials from the Railway Board and DFCCIL.

Under the terms of the MoU, DFCCIL will be responsible for the procurement, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of four MVIS units. This revolutionary system marks a first for Indian Railways. The technology is expected to significantly enhance the safety of train operations, reduce manual inspection efforts and help avoid potential accidents/service disruptions.

This initiative also aligns with IR’s broader objective of introducing modern, intelligent systems to the railway ecosystem. The signing of this MoU is poised to open new avenues for digital transformation in rail safety in building a future-ready rail infrastructure.

The industry-driven certifications have the most advanced tech curricula available & are built to enable professionals to leapfrog in their career trajectories through a tech edge

Bengaluru, February 17, 2025: In response to India’s urgent need for skilled tech professionals, Emeritus, a global leader in delivering accessible and affordable high-quality education, has launched a line of Tech Certifications, particularly for mid to senior professionals aiming to deepen their expertise in deep tech and leapfrog in their career trajectories. This offering, beginning with the Advanced Certification in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) designed in collaboration with E&ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati and IBM, offers cutting-edge specialisations across essential technology areas.

These certifications are for mid-to-senior professionals working in fields like IT/ITES, BFSI, consulting, FMCG, media and entertainment, and e-commerce sectors among others. Early professionals looking to transition to AI & ML roles, as well as senior non-technical professionals keen to integrate AI into their domains, will also benefit from the certifications.

This programme is designed for professionals seeking to harness the power of AI and ML to drive innovation and solve complex problems. Whether you’re a technical professional looking to deepen your expertise or a non-technical leader aiming to understand AI’s potential, this programme is tailored to your needs. It is particularly suitable for data scientists and machine learning engineers who want to advance their skills in cutting-edge AI and ML techniques and tools.

Software engineers can transition into AI/ML roles or enhance existing projects, while business analysts and consultants can drive data-driven decision-making. Product managers and owners can integrate AI/ML into strategies, and leaders can grasp its strategic impact on innovation and competitiveness.

These certifications stand out with an advanced, up-to-date curriculum addressing the evolving tech landscape. They incorporate tools like ChatGPT, OpenAI, and emerging topics such as cybersecurity, IoT, Generative AI, NLP, and Computer Vision. The programme also includes specialisations in explainable AI, cloud computing, and no-code solutions, equipping professionals with a comprehensive tech skill set.

For graduates or early career professionals opting for the certificate programmes, the curriculum will help with readiness to contribute effectively to the evolving tech landscape right after completion of the programme.

India’s AI market alone is projected to grow to $17 billion by 2027, creating significant employment opportunities, according to a 2024 report by IT industry apex body NASSCOM and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Yet, the Indian market faces a 51% demand-supply gap in AI and ML talent, with only 416,000 professionals available to meet the current demand of 629,000, as noted in a 2023 report by NASSCOM. By addressing this demand gap with the latest tech insights, the Emeritus certification provides an essential career advantage to Indian professionals.
