Prime Minister Witness Live Demonstration of P2P Energy Trading Under India Energy Stack

NEW DELHI. Union Minister for Power Shri Manohar Lal visited the REC Pavilion, where he was presented with a live demonstration of a peer-to-peer (P2P) decentralized energy transaction conducted under the India Energy Stack (IES), and also interacted with various Technology Service Providers (TSPs) showcasing AI-driven solutions for the power sector. Earlier, a demonstration of P2P energy trading was presented to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, during his visit to the MeitY Pavilion, conducted by Shri Shashank Misra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, and Shri Prince Dhawan, Executive Director, REC Limited, along with one of the first beneficiaries of the pilot.

The India Energy Stack is an interoperable digital framework built on open standards and protocols to enable secure, low-cost data and service exchange across the power sector, similar to the transformative impact of UPI on India’s digital payments ecosystem. REC Limited serves as the nodal agency for IES on behalf of the Ministry of Power, with FSR Global as the knowledge partner and support from the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) in advancing smart grid innovation and technical inputs for scaling digital energy solutions nationwide, while Networks for Humanity (NFH) is contributing to the development of a trust-based digital transaction framework to ensure secure, verifiable, and scalable peer-to-peer energy networks.

Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the Ministry of Power Pavilion at the AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, highlighting India’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to build a future-ready, efficient and resilient power sector. The pavilion, themed From Megawatts to Megabytes: Transforming India’s Power Ecosystem, showcases how digital technologies are reshaping generation, transmission and distribution systems, with key highlights including AI-Driven Power for a Self-Reliant India, a Startup Zone for energy innovators, PG-AMRIT by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for AI-enabled transmission asset management, the eAabhas early warning system for dam and flood monitoring, and AI-driven implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme to enhance DISCOM efficiency.

The Minister also visited the booth of NHPC Limited and the exhibition by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, where Managing Director Vikas Kumar briefed him on AI initiatives aimed at faster grievance redressal, passenger service improvements and predictive maintenance of critical systems such as overhead electrification, pantograph interaction, rolling stock and signalling, reinforcing the government’s push for technology-led transformation in the power and urban transport sectors.

NEW DELHI. At the AI Impact Summit2026, REC hosted a session on ‘India Energy Stack (IES) and the AI-Ready Power Sector: Trust, Interoperability, and Scale’.

The session witnessed the launch of the peer-to-peer energy trading program and a presentation on the India Energy Stack by Sh. Prince Dhawan, IAS, Executive Director, REC Ltd.

A fireside chat on the India Energy Stack explored its transformative role in strengthening the energy ecosystem and enabling sustainable livelihoods. The discussion was moderated by Smt Swetha Ravi Kumar, Executive Director, FSR Global, and featured distinguished panellists including Dr Ram Sewak Sharma, Chair, India Energy Stack; Sh Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, CMD, REC; Sh Ashish Kumar Goel, Chairman, UPPCL; Sh Alok Kumar, DG, AIDA; and Sh Reji Pillai, President, ISGF, who shared insights on advancing digital innovation and collaborative frameworks within the power sector.
