Mumbai, 5^th March 2024:  Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA) welcomed 50 young students from Lady Engineer High School to experience its cutting-edge Robotics Laboratory, Binary Bolts in an experiential and informative session. ABWA’s Robotics Lab, Binary Bolts is designed to provide students with unparalleled access to state-of-the-art robotics tools and resources. This innovative space aims to spark creativity, foster critical thinking and enhance problem-solving skills among students. As part of ABWA’s outreach programme and commitment to drive STEM education, ABWA will train 30 students from various schools that do not have access to such innovative platforms, catalysing Knowledge Exchange and Innovation. Over the years, ABWA is proud to note that the number of girls participating in Robotics has increased phenomenally. This achievement underscores our commitment to encouraging students to explore diverse interests and combine them, reflecting our approach to holistic education beyond traditional boundaries, especially in fields like robotics often associated with mathematics and science.”

Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Radhika Sinha, Principal, Aditya Birla World Academy said ‘’We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to our Robotics Lab – Binary Bolts visit. We believe that providing access to robotic learning by offering cutting-edge resources is a step towards a holistic approach to teaching and learning. Today, there has been a paradigm shift in the 21st-century education system, not limited to one stream such as science or arts. Education today is more holistic, providing students the opportunity to explore various streams, combine different subjects, and gain a more holistic approach towards learning and knowledge. This is what our robotics program also stands for — overall development, where students are encouraged to explore the different strands of learning. Speaking at the event Ms Reema Kashmiri, Vice Principal of Lady Engineer High School, remarked, “It was truly enriching for our students to witness a functioning robot demonstrated by fellow young students, which was quite impressive. The children from ABWA have excelled, presenting their work with remarkable clarity. As teachers, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience; it was both unique and novel. Witnessing the success resulting from the students’ dedicated after-school efforts was truly amazing.”

The batch of 30 students from various schools will have the unique opportunity to utilize the cutting-edge facilities of Binary Bolts Labs, where they will receive training from ABWA students with extensive experience in robotics. These ABWA students have been part of the school’s Robotics team and have even participated in international FRC competitions. The training program that will be conducted by ABWA is designed to prepare students for participation in the FIRST Tech Challenge, one of the premier robotics programs organized by FIRST. Through this initiative, ABWA aims to encourage STEM education by empowering students to deepen their knowledge and skills in the field of robotics.

This initiative celebrates scientific progress and initiatives, fostering discussions on the integration of new technologies. The event at Aditya Birla World Academy exemplified this spirit of advancement. Parents were welcomed to explore the innovative Binary Bolts lab, a testament to the school’s dedication to promoting robotics. Additionally, introductory Robotics sessions were conducted for students in grades 6 to 10, aiming to nurture a keen awareness and enthusiasm for this field.

Mumbai, 27^th February 2024:  The ABWA family – parents, students, and staff at the Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA) successfully concluded FETE 2024, a unique annual school event focused on driving social responsibility and community well-being. Under the theme “Touching hearts, Impacting lives,” students’ commitment to social responsibility was showcased through various engaging activities, such as a dance marathon and an art auction organized for fundraising including a FETE organized by parents. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to several NGOs that work with the students closely throughout the year as well as for the school-led CAS and SSR initiatives.

ABWA FETE 2024 brought together parents, students, staff and friends for an evening of fun, games, laughter and cheer with the underlying cause – to commitment towards social causes.  A total of over 57 beautiful paintings created by ABWA students were presented for the art auction, while the free-form dance marathon brought together over 500 students, expressing themselves through the activity. The delightful attractions of FETE 2024 were complemented by stalls offering delicious food and exciting games organized on the school premises. ABWA Fete is a prestigious event organized and conducted by parents.

Mumbai, 16th January 2024: Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA) in association with BITS Pilani announced its 10th edition of Infinity 2024, the ‘Ultimate Math Championship’. The three-day event took place on the 11^th, 12^th, and 13^th of January 2024 at NSCI, Worli, Mumbai. The phenomenal event inspired students to showcase their full mathematical prowess and unleash their creativity. The International School Bangalore and Aditya Birla World Academy have been named the winners of the ‘Infinity Champions of the Year’ category for Seniors and Advanced competition. The title of ‘Mathematician of the Year 2024’ has been conferred upon Arjun Narasimhan from The Sri Ram School, Moulsari, Gurgaon; Mohammed Jumael Uddin, DPS STS Dhaka and Suhaan Mobhani of Aditya Birla World Academy students from Advanced Category.  Sruti Das, The Future Foundation School, Kolkata; Taksh Gagan Kothari, Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, and Shresht Siddharth Bhat of Pathways School Noida from the Senior Category were also winners from the event. This annual event, organized in collaboration with BITS Pilani, has grown to become one of the most prestigious Inter-School Mathematics Competitions.

Infinity 2024 was open to students from Grades 9 to 12 from schools affiliated with any education board. The contest aided students in honing analytical and critical-thinking skills, valuable not only in mathematics and academics but also in various other fields. The finals of Infinity 2024 – The Ultimate Math Championship showcased unique competitions such as the World Mathematics Team Championship, the American Region Math League, and the Invitational Young Mathematicians Convention.

The competition features various rounds, including the Individual Round, Team Round, Pass back Round, Bulb Your Ideas, Mathematics Treasure Hunt, and Quiz. Each round was meticulously crafted by the Mathematics team at Aditya Birla World Academy in collaboration with professors from BITS Pilani. The competition was guided by renowned mathematicians, Dr. James Tanton and Dr. Mark Saul, ensuring the highest standards in problem-solving and mathematical exploration. The event concluded with the ABWA team expressing gratitude in a vote of thanks. ABWA’s resounding success at the World Scholar’s Cup 2023 highlights the unwavering dedication, multifaceted talents, and relentless pursuit of excellence that drives the school’s students. The stellar performance of the students is a tremendous testament to Indian academic excellence, bringing laurels to the country on a global forum. The competition commenced with the Regional Round(Mumbai), followed by the Global Round (Bangkok) culminating in the Final Round at Yale University. The glorious finale witnessed nearly 2000 scholars from across the globe participating in various academic competitions under the theme ‘Revisiting the Past’.

Mumbai, 18th October 2023: Aditya Birla World Academy is thrilled to share that “The Happy Place,” a transformative initiative presented in collaboration with Mpower, has culminated with resounding success. Over the two days- 13th – 14th of October, 2023, The Happy Place embarked on a journey to reshape perceptions of body image and promote self-esteem among teenagers, and the outcome was even better than expected. 

The event was a mosaic of engaging and impactful activities, each meticulously curated to empower students on human body and body appearances. “Stop the Shame Game” (Street Play), “Change the Beat” (Singing), “Behind the Scars” (Photography), “Distorted” (Ad/Short Film Making), “Rainbow Reflections” (Art), “All Sizes Fit” (Dance), “The Myth of Beauty” (Fashion Show) and “Heal Yourself, Heal the World” (Writing and Poetry) were instrumental in creating a positive, empowering, and inclusive environment for students to embrace their uniqueness and build a strong sense of self-worth.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Radhika Sinha, Principal, Aditya Birla World Academy said, “In my journey of learning, few important life lessons were that life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain. We must be sensitive to what triggers a dip in our children’s self-esteem. It is important to reaffirm to oneself that I am in charge of how I feel and today I choose to feel good about myself. It generates a strong positive attitude and strengthens the ability to look into the mirror, smile at the person and say, you look good. Believe me, the effect of this reaffirmation never fails.” 

“The Happy Place” was graced by the esteemed presence of Special Guest Boman Irani at the opening ceremony on Friday, 13th October, 2023. His inspiring words and unwavering support added an extra layer of motivation to the cause.

Special guest, Actor and Photographer, Mr. Boman Irani said, “Embrace your greatest joy by simply enjoying yourself, as Mrs. Sinha wisely noted: ‘Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.’ While this holds true, remember that your happiness is a journey that depends wholly and solely on yourself. In my experience, I found that when I wholeheartedly embraced self-enjoyment, it started a flourishing career of happiness. I encourage you not to take yourself too seriously; it’s perfectly okay. Cherish the present moment, and even if unkind words come your way, resist the urge to let them hurt or harm you—just laugh it off. After all, your sense of humour is your strongest armour.”

In addition to this multi-cultural event, “The Happy Place” offered enriching workshops on Dance Movement Therapy, Art Therapy, and Body Positivity (Be-You) sessions. These sessions provided participants with insights to embrace and love their bodies as well as foster an environment of mutual support and healing through writing and poetry. This initiative was a collective effort to challenge stereotypes, celebrate body positivity, and advocate self-acceptance with uniqueness.  

Speaking to the students and the guests, Parveen Shaikh, Psychologist and Vice President, MPower said, “I have always struggled with body image, body fat shaming. So I put all my energy into studying, being humorous, having those laughs, all of that. I accept myself. I love myself. So that’s what I ask all the young people today. Everything begins from us. If you start loving yourself and act out of love for yourself, you will automatically be kind to everybody and be kind to yourself. Because life is not easy, you are going to have anxieties, you are going to have depression episodes, all that is a part of life. But if you are basically strong within and accept the way you are, I think that’s the first step towards a wholesome healthy life which includes mental health as well as your physical health.”

The collaboration with Mpower, an organization dedicated to championing mental health causes, was invaluable. Together, they championed the cause of breaking the shackles associated with body appearance and strived for a more inclusive and accepting society.
