The SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard is the world’s only framework for corporate net-zero target setting in line with climate science.

The SBTi validation proves the Companies’ commitment to building a sustainable and responsible business, by doing not what is easy but what is necessary and positioning them as corporate leaders of the low-carbon transition. This recognition places them at the forefront of India’s industrial decarbonisation, committed to cutting emissions at the pace and scale required to meet the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C goal.

Bengaluru, 24 February 2025: ACC, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, along with the Adani Foundation, continues to drive social impact through the ‘Meri Sangini Meri Margdarshika’ (MSMM) programme. Implemented across 17 ACC locations, the women-led initiative has connected rural community members to more than 20 government welfare, insurance, financial schemes and entitlements, unlocking a total value of Rs. 612 crore. MSMM facilitators are all trained local women volunteers, called ‘Sanginis’.

By simplifying bureaucratic processes, MSMM has helped beneficiaries access schemes related to healthcare, education, financial inclusion, and livelihoods — boosting household incomes and social security. So far in FY’25, the programme has linked 28,000 beneficiaries to government schemes across Karnataka, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and others.

MSMM has so far unlocked total value of Rs. 612 crore in government benefits during the fiscal, with Rs. 3.51 crore directly transferred into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, driving financial inclusion. Communities located around ACC’s Kudithini, Wadi, Sindri, and Madukkarai plants have received higher benefits amongst all the covered locations including Bargarh, Chanda, Chaibasa, Damodar, Gagal, Jamul, Kymore, Lakheri, Thondebhavi, Tikaria, Chilhati, and Salaibanwa.

Beneficiaries have gained access to eligible welfare schemes including Ayushman Cards, e-Shram Cards, Crop Insurance, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmnirbhar Nidhi, and others, significantly improving their financial security and livelihoods. The Adani Foundation’s Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC) at ACC Thondebhavi has been instrumental in equipping young people with the skills they need to thrive. Recently four inspiring success stories have emerged from this ASDC, demonstrating the transformative impact of its training programmes.

Channamma KS, a 36-year-old woman with a physical disability and speech disorder, faced several challenges in finding employment after completing her Bachelor of Arts degree. Relying on her farmer father, and her daily-wage labourer brother for support, Ms. Channamma’s life changed when she joined Saksham, ACC’s CSR upskilling initiative, and enrolled at ASDC Thondebhavi. After completing a three-month training there, she landed a job as a back-end executive at Google in Marathahalli, earning a monthly income of ₹ 15,000 with free food and accommodation. “I never imagined I would have this opportunity,” she said, adding, “ASDC gave me the skills and confidence I needed to succeed. I am so grateful as I can now support myself and my family.”

Gowthami GN had to discontinue her education after class 12 due to financial constraints. Her family, who relied on agricultural labour, often struggled to make ends meet. However, the future seems bright now as Gowthami joined ASDC Thondebhavi and enrolled in the Retail Sales Associate course. She secured a retail job with an annual pay package of ₹2.25 lakh upon completing her 2.5-month training. She said, “ASDC gave me the chance to learn new skills and build a better future for myself and my family. My parents are so proud of me.”

Sisters Vanaja GR and Nirmala GR were unable to continue their education after completing class 10. Their elderly parents, including their mother who suffers from chronic illnesses, depended on them for support. Recognising the need for skills and employment, they joined ASDC Thondebhavi’s Retail Sales Associate course in June 2023. As a result, they secured retail jobs upon the course completion. They now make a combined annual income of ₹4.51 lakh. The sisters excitedly said, “We are so grateful to ASDC for giving us this opportunity. We are now able to take better care of our parents and build a brighter future.”

Bengaluru, Karnataka, 26 August 2024: ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, and the Adani Foundation have significantly improved road connectivity for the residents of Yelubenchi village in Bellary district near the ACC Kudithini plant. ACC along with the Adani Foundation have constructed a 300-metre cement concrete (CC) road with a budget of Rs. 15 lakh to upgrade local infrastructure and provide all-weather road connectivity to the residents.

This initiative has transformed the lives of 4,050 residents at Yelubenchi. Previously, the community faced challenges such as accessing educational institutions, and transporting agricultural produce, particularly during heavy rains, when the muddy road would become practically unusable.

With the successful completion of the road, residents are now able to transport their produce to markets without disruption, students reach school on time, and all the residents, including children, women, and the elderly, have reliable access to medical services.

Among the many villagers who have benefitted from this development, Ms. Pallavi C. shares her appreciation, saying: “I am an agricultural labourer, and a member of a self-help group (SHG) supported by the Adani Foundation. During the rainy season, the previous road used to become so muddy and slippery that it would be quite difficult to get to work. Now, with the new CC road, I can reach work without any hindrances, easing my daily commute and the quality of my day-to-day life.”
