Electronics and Automation Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant installed and commissioned a new experience cum training centre “VIRTULAB” that was developed at HRDC and two numbers of Augmented reality welding simulator during the FY 2023-24
Electronics and Automation Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has been striving hard to keep pace with the modern digitalisation spree including Industry 4.0 and the requirement of the plant with modernised technology and enhanced capacity.
One new CCTV system was installed with in-house resources for monitoring 10KM length vehicle movement from slag yard to SGP gate for monitoring slag movement for sale. For ensuring safety and security of the plant several other measures were taken up by the Department . One Drone based surveillance system was installed and commissioned for CISF. For addressing the concern of road safety a pilot project of RLVD (Red Light Violation Detection) system was undertaken which installed and commissioned at ED (Work)’s chowk .
The augmentation of the automation systems in different production units helped the plant achieve several milestones in its production performances while ensuring enhanced industrial security.
