Safety Awareness Rally Organized by New Plate Mill collective of SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant

A safety awareness rally on the theme SURAKSHA SAJAGTA & SURAKSHA UTPADAKTA” was conducted on 20th December 2024 for the first time in RSP at the New Plate Mill Department. Present on the occasion were Mr. R.K. Bisare, CGM (NPM & SPP), Mrs. Asha Kartha, CGM (S & FS), Mr. Abakash Behera, GM In-charge (Safety), Mr. R.S. Sharma, GM (NPM) and many other senior officers of the NPM. Nearly 200 executives, employees, and contractual employees participated in the rally from the New Plate Mill entrance to the new shipping office. The participants held placards with various safety messages on workplace safety, like using personal protective equipment, restricted cell phone usage on the shop floor, safe material handling procedures, safe driving tips, speed limits within the plant premises, and adhering to SOPs & SMPS.

Mr. R K Bisare  has expressed the hope that the rally will serve as a reminder to stay alert, take preventive measures, and foster a culture of safety. “Whether it’s at home, at work, or in public spaces, being aware of hazards and acting responsibly can prevent many accidents and injuries,” he said.

Mrs. Asha Kartha has emphasized on the need to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing potential risks & to adopt safe practices at shop floor.

The program was followed by facilitation of one regular employee and 4 contractual workers for a quiz competition which was organized by Safety Engineering Deptt at NPM on the theme material handling. The Program was coordinated by Mr. Suman Kumar DSO (NPM) and Ms. Prangya Nath, ASO (NPM).
