The Trainees Hostel of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has undergone massive renovation to welcome the new batch of Management Trainees. Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, DIC (RSP) inaugurated the entrance gate ‘Ashiyana’  a nomenclature for Trainees Hostel Complex, a modified Hostel – 3 named ‘Koel Hostel’ and an upgraded Badminton Court called ‘Shuttle Point’ on 3rd July. Present on the occasion were Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works), Mr. Tarun  Misra,  ED (HR) with Additional Charge of ED (Projects), Mr. Alok Verma, ED (Mines), Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A), CGMs, HODs and other Senior Officers of the Plant.

The event featured an inaugural badminton match between two teams of Management Trainees, one led by Mr. Bhowmick and the other by Mr. Suryawanshi, to mark the occasion.

The Koel Hostel, boasting of two floors with fifty rooms, has undergone a complete transformation having newly fixed tiled floors and glass window panes. Each of the fully furnished twin-sharing room is equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioners, refrigerators, geysers, and televisions. The hostel also offers a renovated common room with entertainment facilities including a wall-mounted television with DTH connection, table tennis tables, and carom boards.

The ‘Shuttle Point’ Badminton Court has been upgraded with a new wooden surface and clearly marked lines, enhancing its functionality and appeal.

The comprehensive renovation of Ashiyana coming under the purview of Learning and Development Department was given a facelift with the help of Town Engineering Department led by Mr. P K Swain, CGM (TA&CSR) and  Mr. B K Jojo, GM In-charge (TE).   The function was co-ordinated by Learning and Development Department and HR-OD under the guidance of Ms. Rajashree Banerjee, CGM In-charge (HR and L&D)
