National, January 26, 2026: Republic Day is much more than an occasion to acknowledge the nation’s history; it is a spark in the development of future leaders. As the world becomes more complicated, January 26 allows children to begin to understand how the basic structure of society works.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, Welingkar Institute of Management, said, “Republic Day serves as a strong reminder of the constitutional values that define and drive India’s democratic and economic development. For Management Education, this day also helps emphasise the significance of leadership accountability, ethical leadership, respect for diversity in decision-making and leadership actions. At Welingkar Institute of Management, we encourage our students’ continued development into responsible future leaders who will help create a better tomorrow by balancing ambition with integrity, innovation with inclusion, and growth with social responsibility. These same principles are integral not only to the building of our nation, but also to the establishment of sustainable and responsible organisations”.
Commenting on this auspicious day, Arty Awasthi, Principal, Birla Open Minds International School, BKT Campus, Lucknow, said, “Republic Day is significant because it helps children understand why rules, values, and mutual respect are essential for a country to function. At Birla Open Minds, this occasion allows us to explain the meaning of the Constitution in a way students can relate to, through examples from daily life, classroom interactions, and real-world situations. By discussing freedom, responsibility, and unity, we help students see that celebrating Republic Day is not only about remembering history, but also about practising these values in the way they treat others and participate in their communities.”
Anita Saini, Principal, Birla Open Minds International School Dehradun, shared her thoughts on this occasion, “Birla Open Minds International School Dehradun, views Republic Day as a day of introspection rather than just a ceremonial holiday. By encouraging children to see the Constitution as a framework for understanding their rights and responsibilities, we teach them to become socially responsible. Through various activities like Panel Discussions, Debates and Framing Class Constitutions, students understand the core of our constitution and imbibe values like integrity, equality, dignity, diversity and unity into their daily lives. BOMIS nurtures students who are socially and ethically smart to contribute to a modern, inclusive society. Happy Republic Day!”
Republic Day demonstrates that when a school teaches its children to appreciate the dignity of every person and the strength of unity, children are not only more likely to become successful adults, they are also more likely to grow into ethical stewards of our democracy. It also reminds everyone, including the students, that education is the most effective means for promoting the ideals of democracy, equality, and brotherhood in future generations.
