Rare Case of Multiple Large Fibroids Successfully Treated Through Laparoscopic Surgery in Jaipur

Jaipur, October 2025: A 28-year-old woman from Jaipur successfully underwent complex laparoscopic procedure in order to remove multiple large fibroids that had enlarged to the size of seven-month pregnancy. The surgery was performed under the guidance of Dr. Pankhuri Gautam, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cocoon Hospital Jaipur restoring patient’s health and fertility prospects.

Mrs. Mamta had been married for only four months, visited Cocoon Hospital, Jaipur after noticing a gradually increasing lump in her abdomen over the past two months accompanied by discomfort and sense of heaviness. Clinical evaluation revealed the presence of multiple large uterine fibroids, a condition known to cause pain, menstrual irregularities, infertility and potential complications during pregnancy.

Before visiting Cocoon Hospital, Jaipur, she had consulted several doctors who offered differing opinion on whether surgery could be performed without affecting her uterus. After thorough counselling and evaluation, Dr Pankhuri Gautam, Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cocoon Hospital, Jaipur advised a laparoscopic myomectomy, a minimally invasive procedure which allows the removal of fibroids through small incisions.

“In young women specially those who are newly married or planning pregnancy in future, these fibroids can be emotionally and physically distressing. With the advancements of laparoscopic techniques, we can now perform a complex myomectomy surgery with minimal pain, faster recovery and without compromising the uterus. The key lies in timely diagnosis, expert surgical planning and patient trust” said Dr. Pankhuri Gautam, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cocoon Hospital Jaipur

The surgery conducted through precision and careful planning was successfully completed. Despite the large number of fibroids, the surgical team ensured minimal loss of blood, and a smooth post – operative recovery. Mrs Mamta was discharged in a good health condition, walking comfortably, eating normally and free from pain due to which she was brought to hospital

Fibroids are regarded as among the most common benign tumours in women of reproductive age, causing impact on nearly one in four women in India. Symptoms often go unnoticed until the conditions progress. Experts emphasise the importance of regular gynaecological check-ups, early ultrasound evaluation, and awareness of warning signs such as abdominal swelling, heavy bleeding, or prolonged periods.

This successful case at Cocoon Hospital, Jaipur underscores the growing expertise in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological surgeries in India, offering women safer and more effective options for managing complex reproductive health challenges.
