NEW DELHI. Indian Railways is recruiting 1,43,086 non-gazetted personnel under the Annual Recruitment Calendar for 2024 and 2025, with examinations completed for nearly 60,000 vacancies and selection panels finalised for over 31,000 candidates. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said recruitment action has been initiated for all notified vacancies. During January–December 2024, the Railways issued 10 Centralised Employment Notifications for 92,116 posts across categories such as Assistant Loco Pilots, Technicians, Junior Engineers, Railway Protection Force Sub-Inspectors and Constables, Paramedical staff, Non-Technical Popular Categories, Ministerial and Isolated Categories, and Level-1 posts including Track Maintainers and Pointsmen.
The Minister said first or single-stage Computer Based Tests for 59,678 posts have been completed, with more than 25 crore candidates appearing across 156 cities in up to 15 languages. Second-stage CBTs for key posts including ALP, JE and Non-Technical Popular Categories have also concluded, along with aptitude, skill and typing tests. Recruitment for 32,438 Level-1 vacancies began on November 27, 2025, while the Physical Efficiency Test for 4,208 RPF Constable posts was completed on December 6, 2025. Panels have been finalised for over 31,000 candidates, largely in safety-related categories. Additionally, under the Annual Recruitment Calendar for 2025, nine more Centralised Employment Notifications have been issued for 50,970 vacancies, including posts in Southern Railway and the Integral Coach Factory.
