Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) acquired the “Bhadla-III Power Transmission Limited” Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) on August 28, 2024. This acquisition is part of the project to establish a transmission system for evacuating power from the Bhadla-III Power Station, under the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-III scheme (20 GW). POWERGRID emerged as the successful bidder through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.
The project involves augmenting the transformation capacity at the existing Bhadla-III substation in Rajasthan. This includes installing 765/400 kV and 400/220 kV ICTs. The project is an Inter-State Transmission System, to be commissioned within 18 months, aiding in the evacuation of renewable energy to the National Grid.
