NTPC Bongaigaon has taken a significant step towards improving healthcare services in the Bodoland Territorial Region by dedicating a new 6-bedded Burn High Dependency Unit (HDU) and a renovated Eye Operation Theatre (OT) to Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital under its CSR initiative. The inauguration was attended by prominent leaders including MP Shri Joyanta Basumatary, IAS District Commissioner Smt. Masanda M. Pertin, and MLA Shri Lawrence Islary, who praised NTPC’s commitment to social development and highlighted the importance of such facilities for the community’s well-being. Shri Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head of NTPC Bongaigaon, emphasized that these initiatives reflect the company’s ethos of inclusive development, aiming to empower lives beyond power generation.
The Burn HDU, built at a cost of INR 60.49 lakh, is equipped with modern medical technology such as ICU beds, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and syringe pumps, which will greatly improve the treatment of burn injuries and emergencies in the region. The Eye OT, upgraded at INR 9.51 lakh, features advanced equipment including autoclaves, RO water purifiers, and scrub stations, and is expected to facilitate over 200 eye surgeries annually, thereby enhancing ophthalmic care for local residents. Senior officials, hospital staff, and community members toured the new facilities, marking a milestone in the district’s healthcare infrastructure.
This initiative underscores NTPC Bongaigaon’s broader commitment to social responsibility and community welfare. By investing in essential healthcare infrastructure, NTPC aims to ensure that critical medical services reach underserved areas, improving the quality of life for the people of Kokrajhar and surrounding regions. The event reflected a collective effort to build a healthier and more resilient community, with continued support from government officials, medical professionals, and local leaders.
