Paes may replace Yuki in Davis Cup tie against Uzbekistan

New Delhi: In a big setback to the Indian Davis Cup team, the country's leading singles player Yuki Bhambri was on Monday ruled out of the upcoming tie against Uzbekistan due to a knee injury.

The development on the first day of the preparatory camp means that at least one of the two reserve members -- either Leander Paes or Rohan Bopanna -- is certain to play. Non-playing captain Mahesh Bhupathi told media persons after the first practice session of the team that Yuki is out of picture and it is a big blow for the host team.

New Delhi: Rio Olympics silver medallist P V Sindhuon Sunday had her revenge producing a superlative performance to beat reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin of Spain 21-19, 21-16 to lift her maiden India Open Super Series title.

In front of a cheering home crowd at the Sirifort Sports Complex, the third seeded Indian dominated the match from the start. Sindhu had last defeated Marin in the BWF Super Series in Dubai last year.
